hey, i was wondering what is the lifetime of the stock potenzas? i'm at about 9000k miles and am starting to wonder if i have to start saving up sum cash. also what is a good tire to replace it with that has longer tread life but still good handling and grip, also a tire that is halfway decent in the snow would help to. i'm also looking for new rims for when i get new tires. . . i want to go gunmetal but haven't seen too many i like, anybody have suggestions?

Mine are at 13000 and I am going to get new ones very soon.
Does any one know the exact designation of our tires (size, name)?

I got roughly 15500 out of mine, I could have gotten maybe 1000 more miles outta mine, but decided since I had the cash to go ahead and replace with Yokohama's AVS es100.(screwy)

I have 14000 miles on my car. 10000 are with the potenzas. They're not even half worn, and I drive pretty damn hard ;)

damn...9000K miles ??? i'm surprised your engine is still alive ! hahaha (rlaugh)
anyway, you won't be able to get very good handling on tires that will do well both during dry season and snow season. you'd have to get summer tires on a set of rims, and a set of steelies/whatever wheels you want to mount snow tires on

I expect mine to last me till around 15,000 to 20,000 miles. As far as replacements go, I would consider either :
Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Bridgestone&tireModel=Potenza+S-03+Pole+Position&vehicleSearch=true&partnum=145YR7S03PP&fromCompare1=yes
or
BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=g-Force+T%2FA+KDW+2&vehicleSearch=true&partnum=145YR7GFTAKDW2&fromCompare1=yes
Or you could just get direct replacements. I think the stock Potenzas are great. Just my 2 cents.

I have 27300 on mine. I have only rotated them twice. I suspect that they will last for another 5000 or so. I have 4 Goodyears in the garage when they give out.

How do you like those Yokos? We had them on our old Prelude, but ended up selling the car before we put too many miles on them...

If price is no object, what would be the way to go? (tread life is no concern, either, just GRIP)(burnout)

I have 13k hard driven miles. About 20 passes at the drag strip, 10 runs at autox, lots of twisty driving, street racing, etc... and they stil have well more than half tread left.
I rotated them at 5k, and 10k miles, and will again at 15k.
These tires last if you take care of them, just like anything else that is properly maintained.

Hands down, the best street tires I've seen are the S-03s. (thumb) However, they'll cost you about $250/each. (crazy)

they're great IF you are just "driving" on them.... i took them out to GIR road course and they were chunking within the 2nd 12min run :(

Road Courses almost demand/require road course tires. Street tires just dont hold up under that stress.. even top of the line street tires.
I'd recommend getting a set of Kuhmo v700's if you want to go back. ;)

mspdfreak (http://www.msprotege.com/forum/member.php?u=6039)<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_883034", true); </SCRIPT> - If price isn't an object and looking for an ultra sticky DOT street tire, the Pirelli P-Zero Nero Corsa would be for you (for wet conditions) and Advan's new "street/slick" for dry conditions.
We found under testing that the older SO2PP's actually performed better then the SO3's. Another good bang for the buck tire is the Falken FK451's.

wow 25k miles some of u are at with tread to spare. I rotated mine 3 times so far and the fronts that are now on the back are completed bald, one blew out on me and the fronts have about 2\32nds left and are bald on the sides! and i only have 11k miles!WTF i dont even drive that hard and i certainly dont rip it around corners everyday. Well anyway i just ordered my TOYO proxe 4's! They should be on the car this weekend. Ive heard alot of good things about them and hopefully they last longer then the re040s.
