I picked up my spicy orange baby on friday! got her for 16k, handed over the sight draft check on friday morning and drove away happy as a clam.
I really noticed the hesitation even in the first 20 minutes of driving her, so I looked up in a mazda dealership in the ft. campbell area and setup a appointment to get the ECU flashed, the technicians assured me I would really notice a difference. They also warned me about the transmission, and if not carefully you could really fuck up some "forks" inside? (dunno)
Another thing that I really dislike is a constant squeak coming from the dash or at least the front cockpit somewhere, pretty annoying let me tell yah.
Other then that I'm more then pleased with the vehicle, I've already had half a dozen people come up to me to ask about it :)

word :)

Congrats on the purchase.

Can you descrive your rattle in the front of the car? I have a rattle that just started and it is very annoying. Mine sounds like it is definitely coming from the passenger side and in the dash near the firewall.

Just trying to figure out what it is.

Thanks!

check the ashtray, the one that slides out. I noticed that if mine is slid all the way in so the handle is touching the outside, it rattles like crazy so I always have it about a fraction of an inch out. Its weird...

well the the rattle is more like a squeaky squeak, pretty high pitched and ambient sounding... I need to get a passenger to help me locate it while I drive...

Does anyone get scared for there car as they read this forum? some pretty nasty stories of brand new cars being really fucked up, I hope I don't have a 1/8 of the problems some of these people do (headshake)

Hell yeah...I'm always looking out the window at work..making sure the alarm is set, making sure my baby's ok lol

I've fared pretty well so far. Two small dings and a small dent that can be popped out (no paint damage, not on a body line) All three are barely noticeable (except by me of course)

Jason,

I think he is talking about problems that he has read on the forums, like tranny problems, diff problems, faulty turbos etc.

Reading these forums does get me freaked out also. Sometimes I wish I could contain myself and stop reading here because I would worry less about what the future holds for me and the MSP.

Knocking on wood that I have a good one.

every car ever made has issues. The MSP is right in the middle as far as reliability and issues per car is concerned.
Hell, for ever 100 mercedes, there are 331 problems on avg, and for every 100 mazdas, about 280.

Anyways, congrats on the car.. hope you make it out to some local auto x's. :)
May 2 at Ft Knox would be a great chance!!

Reading the forums does scare me, but it has probably kept me from doing some stupid sh**; so I guess you could say the forums scared me straight!(smoke)
