OK so I put my Injen CAI on today at work. Took me about an hour or so. The "turkey" is loud as hell. Sounds more like a flock of them but they're pissed off this time.......I had CAI's in my previous 2 cars but I have never heard this much suction from the filter. I figure due to the turbo.....It looks like the turbo spools up faster also....Slight power gains........Sound right to everyone? GhostP5's how-to is the shiz-nizzles.......

Sounds right to me. It's definately a noticeable difference over stock, isn't it?:D

For me it was a big difference is size and power. The biggest difference is if you drive on a cold cold night cause it is ALWAYS getting that cold air now as aposed to warm after a while. The first time I really got on itafter the switch it pulled like a mofo in second. Big ass smile (thumb)

Besides little person mods that I want to do (gauges, paint this/that) Im temped to go catback next. So far all I have is the injen and I think Id go exhaust, then maybe something else engine side like fmic.

I would do downpipe before catback, I've heard it will yield better gains...unless you wanted to change the appearance of your car in some way, obviously a d/p wouldn't do that :)

Well In California I dont exactly want to do a things like that. I would rather go cat-back for now and risk legality later with a dp + highflow cat. For now stock cats are staying on for me.

Where did you pick it up for $190? Also, do they come in polished black?

with the CAI, downpipe will give you the most gains, also helps out a lot if you gonna up the boost later on. plus installind a catless dp will give an extra 1 psi.

I say guages, mbc, plugs, turbo-back (iON...killer.(sssh)...), front motor mount, and of course somewhere in there an intercooler upgrade (about the only thing I need to do next)....and if you're happy up to 10psi, if not a bit more, definitely make sure you're flashed.....

ion turboback too expensive........nice design though...

Not so bad when bought on the initial groupbuy. Not for what you get/what gets replaced. I figured what the hell, only live once!! :D At least as far as we know......

The stock S-pipe was found to be not all that restrictive. Gains from a downpipe + catback are comparable to a turbo-back.

Turbo back is of course better, but the most restrictive part of the stock exhaust is the downpipe...I'd replace that first, if you can't afford the full turboback :)

I've got a downpipe sitting here waiting to be installed :)

hey jersey, what's the diference between downpipe, turbo back cat back and all that stuff?

TampaBlackMSP

Turbo back = s-pipe(directly from turbo), race cat, mid-pipe, muffler. Lovely. :D

quik comment on the injen.

I drove yesterday from Baltimore to Charleston, WV in pouring down rain and snow at times. Had no problems with water. Only reason i mention this is because so many others worry like hell about driving in the rain etc...

The car was awesome through the mountains, I just watched my boost guage while going up and tried to keep it at 0-1 psi (leary of boosting for too long in 5th gear).

I did notice however that when I was at the highest altitude on the trip (4100ish ft), my car started bogging like a mo-fo when it went into boost. What do you think caused that? This is the location where the snow was, maybe too quick of outside temperature decrease and altitude difference for the ecu to handle??

I also noticed that my car usually idles at about 21 in/hg of vacuum. I stopped at a rest area on one of the high points, let my car idle for about 3 minute, when in, did my thing. When I started my car back up, I just happened to look over at the guage and it was idling at 18 in/hg? Altitude???

the thinner air is proabbly freakin out ur ecu and its not catchin up...probably puttin too much fuel in compared to the air its recieving and its causing ur bog...now if it still happenes when u return....dealer run! :)

yea the altitude plays big roll i drive thru the smokey mountain in tenn. and i see the same problem... my car usally vacs 23-24 and it will goto 15-16 when at top peak of the mountains... and car would also bog if getting on throttle hard..

With the Injen CAI...do you have to change anything else, or update anything?

I am completely stock and the car has been flashed?

Do you think this is the best cheaper upgrade to start with?

Thanks,
Ryan

Thanks,
RyanThe intake doesn't seem to do too much besides make you sound like you are fast lol. I'd look into an exhaust first if you can afford it. A midpipe can be bought in the same price range as the injen depending on size and maker. Consider exhaust then an intake. The combo should serve very nicely. I couldn't be happier about the performance with the combination of the two.

^------ 100% agree.

If I were to do anything, it would be the D/P w/ High Flow cat 2.5 inch. The stock airbox is pretty efficient (Joe P said so himself). You won't see much results unless you free up the exhaust 1st.

I was going to go exhaust 1st but i couldn't pass up the deal..........
