I'm starting the new clutch install on my old beater 323 tomorrow. It's really not a 1st Gen, but we don't have a 0 Gen section. I'll try and keep everyone updated on how everything goes. I have to split the install into 2 days since I signed up for overtime tomorrow at work.(hand) I don't predict any major problems, but if there is anything you guys know from experience that I may run into please let me know. Thanks.

I got it back together today. We resurfaced the flywheel and strong armed the tranny. Everything went a lot smoother than we anticipated. The transmission was not as heavy as we expected so two people had no problems getting it back on the motor. The hardest part was that the tranny won't go in dead straight. You have to put it in at an angle and then slide it up to the flywheel. The next project is to replace the brake master cylinder. The brakes won't hold pressure and there are no leaks so I know that the piston in the master cylinder isn't sealing. The person I bought the car from said that they replaced the piston kit, but it didn't solve the problem so I'm just going to start over with a new master cylinder. Thanks guys.

yeah the tranny at times won't go straight on..
I usually use a soft mallet hammer and put it on the caseing then use a sledge and tap the tranny int place.

whoa thats bad
NEVER force an input shaft into the tranny NEVER EVER
you will mess it up and you will have big problems because you have to replace many internals now not to mention a new input shaft or tranny.

no, it's not bad.
once the shaft catches you just tap it lightly or just use a tranny bolt to pull it together.
I've done it like 9 times.
about 4 times this week.
