Just ordered the 3in. downpipe... I know many of you would say it's overkill, but I'm in FL so cats aren't necessary (at least as long as there's a Republican as Gov.) and what the hell it's $30 more. For maybe 2 more horses, that's a better gain per $ then a K&N panel filter. Anyways, I'm excited and the next week is going to be difficult to wait through. (nana)
Let you know how it turns out.

I dont think its overkill if your planning on turning up the boost and doing a few more mods, besides its turbo you dont need back pressure.

I have a 2.5" Apex downpipe with high flow cat sitting in my trunk waiting to be installed.

Dicreet, I'm surprised you haven't gone 3in. yet... I was tempted to get the gauges and up the boost to start, but this is my first turbo car, so I'm looking to get what I can from basic bolt-ons, then I'll move into tuning. speeddoc Three weeks and counting since you ordered it??? Sounds like the SHO aftermarket supply. A LSD took 6mos easy (pissed) . Anyways, It'll probably be June until I can install it... Working 75-80 hours/week doesn't afford much time... Oh well, the money's nice :-)

I have the Apex 3" catless downpipe and love it. Its loud as hell but doesnt get annoying and when it backfires it sounds like a gunshot. Scares the shit out of people. I'll try to get some video of soon.

I'm thinking of putting a apexi 2.5 high flow d/p on my custom 2.5 bent to the hks carbon ti muffler. do you guys think if I put a resonator on the exhaust it'll make it quiter, and will it affect performance??

The resonator will make the car a little bit quiter, and it all depends if you get the resonator the same size as the rest of the piping then it won't hurt perfomance but if you downsize then you will have a bottleneck and that will hurt performance.

thats cool you have no worries about having no cats. We have a republican as gov in Cali, and have hella strict laws about cats. I think its like $3000 per cat, could be wrong

i cant remember where i read this or if i read it at all, but would it be contradictory to buy a 2.5 or 3 in dp and have it feed to a 2.25 inch exhaust? would it be a waste of money?

Not at all... True, it would be less restrictive with 3in all the way out, but exhaust gases are hottest when they leave the engine, therefore they expand more. Letting more flow out from the hottest point will let the car breathe easier and the exhaust gases won't "choke up" leaving the engine too fast. The biggest benefit, however would be removing the cats and the restrictive stock d/p. When I changed out the stock y-pipe in my SHO to a catless 2.5 in. y-pipe and left the stock 2in. "cat-back" system in place I still gained about 10-15hp, especially top-end where more hot gases are flowing out of the engine. My only worry with going catless on the MSP is that our cars generally run pretty rich. Without the catalytic converters in place to burn up excess fuel does anyone have problems with smoke, soot or smell? Are you flashed or not?

I justified my purchase by convincing myself that I'm helping gas mileage, since my car will operate more freely now. (thumb)
Just gotta remember to lay off the throttle now.... Redline is a horribly addictive drug.

The less resistance after the turbine, the better. Money Well Spent!

LOL!!, Thats my excuse! I figure in the long run that it will be worth it and pay for itself.
