well i did it, bought the MSP! 16g's with 7miles on it..... But here it is.. the car after driving it for around 40miles or so and then letting it sit had a really bad smell, not rotten egg like somethign was burning... it sucked, like the clutch or something i dunno.... second my sub isnt playing..anything i could do to check it out? might be because its been sitting for so long? i am not to sure... and third, i can take the car to any dealer and they have to do work on it? the dealer said the car already has e and a bushings and the car has been flashed but i doubt it... if i go to another dealer they could tell me whats been done on the car or its been flashed? thanks...

the sub is warranty work.
and you can have it reflashed
look for a coolant leak near the turbo for the bad smell.

yes, while driving home i noticed the temperature gauge was more towards the cold side, wasnt directly in the middle. Second, when i look tommaro i could see collant leaking? or the hose cracked? thats crazy and the car is new! sucks... have to take the car back to the dealer already

the gauge should be not all the way in the middle..
the clamp that holds the coolant feed to the turbo is crap and allows a little leak.
Youll notice a green crusty residue there.

Atleast be thankful others have gone through this long before you and can tell you exactly whats going on.
The hose will be fixed with a simple clamp and sub has had its wires fall off from a bad crimp or its dead and needs replacing.

Ahh the smells. When I first took my car out for a good run, I smelled pancakes and syrup and then it turned to seafood....BADLY.
Smell went away, car is fine now :)

Check and make sure the sub output on the radio is turned on. The sub may be muted on the radio itself

May sound silly, but check to make sure the sub is turned on. Hold down the AM button for a couple seconds and see if that changes anything. The dealer might not have "set up" the stereo. Also, check to see that the triangle above the "W" is lit up red to make sure that it's the sub, not the amp itself.

If you hold down the "Q" button when the radio is off, it gives you the speaker choices. You pick the sizes of the speakers attached to the radio that way.

all wrong for the sub. hold the upper most button on the left side of the radio in and I wil bet you money the sub will turn back on. If you checked the owners manual you would have found this since it is in the Kenwood trouble shooting section.

my sub didnt work when i got my car either. i took off one of my battery cables for a few minutes, to get my check engine light off (dont ask) and when we reconnected it, everything, sub included, magically worked.

uhh yeah that's the AM button on the faceplate smarty pants. also known as the NF (non-fading) output.
when you cycle through the AUDIO adjustments, do you get to an option that says "NF Level" ? if not, then your NF output is OFF, and to turn it on is mentioned above by albert and y0sky.

Hahaha....can't say I'm surprised that you've got troubles already. Just do as everyone has stated....oh, and I guarantee there's NO WAY IN HELL the dealer put the new A bushings on the front of a car with only 7 miles on it. No way in hell. More than likely it doesn't have the Es on the rear either. But not a big deal there - if the front or rear starts causing you problems you can take it in then.

Oh damn! Welcome to owning a MSP! I love it but mine sits at the dealer as well, hopefully for just a blown fuse. If I were you I would wait a year to mod it just so anything that is going to go wrong will, and you can have hassle-free warranty work done.

You could also hit the reset button on the HU. I went crazy trying to get the sub on and then just pressed the reset button on the front with a pen.

I got mine with 15 miles and it stunk fo rthe first week. thats just everything burning off the engine. It took me a month and a half and i finally got my system sounding like it has a 12" sub in the back. I will post my settings soon. Or if your near Skyline you can stop by on my lunches and we can compare and contrast!
holding down the AM button turns off/on the sub. You'll see a little NF written next to the button...that's the sub. I'd also get back and make sure the sub wires are nice and tight. takes 2 mins. Kenwood did recall these subs due to some coil problem. there is a TSB apparantly ( from what I've read here) although I have yet to look into it.
The smell is normal. It'll be there for the 1st few thousand miles. But if you are getting leaks ( look for green fluid spilled in around the front of the engine) then you'll probably need the clamps replaced.

Just FYI - there's a seperate user's manual for the Kenwood that's in English. So you should have 2 user's manuals - 1 in English and then another one that's in like 3 or 4 different languages. Sounds like the dealer screwed you out of the English manual.
