Well, I dropped the car of to be checked out for my cold startup knock(you guys at the dyno meet heard it) and the clutch chatter.

Sooo, after calling the dealer like 4 times today I got the great news that the bottom end "has something going on" and they have the pan and stuff off the car. He said that they had to contact Mazda USA to determine what to do with it. I'm gonna be without a car for at least a week. Which is NOT a good thing for me and my 150 mile a day commute.

This sucks. I'm probably gonna be driving a fricking 89 Voyager with a 1/4 of a million miles on it if I don't get a rental! I have grown so accustomed to the great handling of the pro. I can't stand driving anything else!
(pissed) (bang) (argh)

Yeah, definately...if it is under warranty, have them give you a rental or loaner!

ya u walk in that dealership.. and take control dont let them walk all over u and tell them because whatever situation with ur 150km a day driving u need a reliable vehicle... that happened to me they needed to change something with the chassis and they said oh we need ur car for a week and i was stcuk with no car.. so i walked back to the dealership and told them they'd better give a courtesy vehicle or im complaining to the head honcho and they got me a vehicle in the meanwhile... so go there and take control or they'll walk all over u if u dont get ur way...

Well, I can't do anything today. I'll get a rental monday when we figure out whats going on with the car. One day with the minivan won't kill me.

Then again it might....

I think he said something about the #1 bearing...don't know if he meant #1 rod or #1 main cap though. I don't see why they wouldn't cover it under warranty though. 30K and I took damn good care of the car, no reason for it to have any problems. I am waiting for mention of the "mods" done to the car though. But I really don't see how the Injen, HKS Hiper, or AWR mounts could have caused a bearing failure. It does have a V6 oil filter on it. They might say it's the wrong filter-I'd laugh at that. It was making noise before I even put that filter on it.

Well, I got in to work this morning and had a Voicemail message from Koons! They actually had a rental car waiting for me friday night! She had said that if I wanted to, I could have had my car for the weekend. No biggie though because I would rather that it had been worked on-which it did get torn down saturday.

Other than the guy on staurday not knowing about the rental they had waiting, this is some great customer service so far! So, I am going to stop by there tonight and get my child seats and the rental. They couldn't get the clutch chatter to happen, but they were going to check it out while the motor is apart. She also had said that it was a rod bearing. Sucks. At least it's getting fixed.

I MISS MY PROTEGE!!!!!

Drove my wifes 94 civic friday and a 85 Accord(It's got a Carburetor!) today...ugh... wonder what the loaner will be...they are a mazda/toyota dealer...camry maybe...

Probably the P5s competition...the Matrix...ha-ha.

Seriously, that is good that they called you and you did not have to raisea stink about it.

Well, they are covering the motor. No questions asked. Best case I get my car back friday, I'm guessing monday.

Got a 2004 Corolla. Not too bad, ain't no protege 5 but it's a whole hell of alot better than the 85 Accord I was driving earlier today!

Nah...

I was really dreading taking the car in. So far it's a relatively painless ordeal..just losing the pro for so long and the thought of another man touching my baby.....until now NO other has touched that car. Really painful to see it in the shop on a lift. (sad1)
