WMA = teh suck

Get rid of those files. Convert them to wav - use the line in and line out of your soundcard if you must.

Stick with .ogg .mp3 and mostly .shn - then burn accordingly.

WMA - THE WINNAHR

I like WMA more, but that's only because I have WinXP on both of my computers.

I wish Kenwood would release an upgrade for our car stereo's. It would be cool if could play AAC files like you get from the iTunes Music Store...

blah, why would you even *use* wma? just find the files in another format or search google for ways to convert to other formats.

People use it because its the easiest. The encoder is built into media player and media player is bundled with XP. XP comes on almost every new computer.

WMA allows WAY too much lockdown for a fucking sound file. Perfect for corporations, fux0r for you.

get winamp, decode wma to wav, and encode to 320 kbps mp3. that shiet is the bomb. wma blows. *edit* and no, it wont play wma.

ricenudles - How much musik do you get with 320 kbps mp3? I'm downloading that acoustics program to convert crap, hoping to finally take advantage of the mp3 player.

Actually found a way to screw the digital licensing code, when i burn it to disk it converts it to .cda files which is the normal file system for CD's ( ibelieve and lets me play it in my non MP3 players) I then convert it to Mp3 from there. I bought the songs from puretracks.com and they come as .wma files so i was screwed from the get go, but with a little tinkering i got it to Mp3.

there is no point to re-encode to 320kbps. Remeber: Garbage In, Garbage Out. You will not be increasing the sound quality if the WMA was encoded at 46kbps or something equally as lame.

^ exactly......GIGO

except that garbage will be 20 times bigger in the end.

ricenudles - How much musik do you get with 320 kbps mp3? I'm downloading that acoustics program to convert crap, hoping to finally take advantage of the mp3 player. Most of my music is 320kbps. Not because I decoded then encoded but the music I get usually is at 320kbps cbr or 192vbr. Personallly, I prefer 192VBR. I *think* its better. Watch out though, converting them all to 320 takes up mucho space on your hd.

You will not be increasing the sound quality if the WMA was encoded at 46kbps or something equally as lame. That's absolutely true. But, in the cases where the .wma file or the .wav file ripped or downloaded are pretty high in quality, you could convert it into a high quality .mp3. Otherwise, the program you use wont let you select a higher bit rate and you're stuck with 64 or 96 bit garbage.

Well....... , I know very well that wma works in my Kenwood. But when are they gonna stop stealing from us and just make a 20/40/60 so and so forth Gig hard dive that we can leave hooked up to the receiver so I/we can stop taking our laptops in the car all the time. It would be so easy to do. Hell it would kill the raido!

And No... , I dont hv the income to take on this venture , nor the other ideals I hv.

OOOPS the it go's spin spin spin !

They make car MP3 HDDs. Quite a few companies make them, actually.

OK why do u people want to get any higher quality then 164k... 164000 bits a sec... which means all notes from -82k to +82k frequency range is captured. And as must people know, we can't hear anything lower then 70k anyways so 164 is the perfect compression ration.

The only reason to go above 128k(near cd qualitity is for the bass i.e 64k - 70k note range) as for wma 320k usually gets u the quality of a 192k mp3... the wma encoder/decoder sucks ass. mp3 uses the most efficient loss-less encoding(tree structure compression).
