Whats up everyone. I've found the culprit in most of our ticking irritations. I started my car up this mornin, and it was cold so it was ticking pretty good after it idled down. I put my hand again the heat shield, and it muffled all the metalic ticking thats been driving me ape shit. My heat shield is tight, I think its just resonating/amplifying our valve train. Question is, does anyone make something like a high temp dyna may?

this is kinda funny that i read this 2night.
My engine sounded fine, untill about 4k miles. Then i got this insane slap/tick sound comming from around my exhaust manafold.....
cept you cannot hear mine when my engine is cold, only once it warms up.
I took it to the dealership and demanded it fixed( i work for there parent company). At first they just tightned my exhaust manf and said hey its good...i went back there and sat down with the tech and told him no. I pleeded with him to just take off the valve train cover and check the clearences...if it waznt in there i would pay him for the time...he wouldnt...kept saying it waz normal...
i finally went to the svc manger, and told him to take off my fuckin valve train cover, he himself did, and BOOM!!! imediatly noticed some rubbing spots....cant check clearences untill 2morrow, (engine has to cool) but looks back because of those spots.
btw, this is the 3RD time i have taken it in.

Yes! I wondered what on earth that sound was. I'm glad to know it's nothing horrible.

Just tell let most of you know that mazda ohv use HLA's. Every mazda has this ticking noise. The best thing to do it is use full Syn Oil and change it every 3k miles. In my old FS I knew when to change my oil because the ticking would start.

yes we all know about the "mazda tick" yes that sound is loud, and annoying. Most people who complain of this tick are refering to that sound.
Mine IS different. Mine started after break in period, and all of the techs at my dealership now say it IS NOT normal in my case.
I just spoke with the service writer on the phone, apparently all of the clearences in the valve train are fine, they have the motor half torn apart. I DO NOT trust the tech who checked the clearences however.
They said something about checkin the timming belt...i dono....i just want my car back at this point.
