I doubt you'll get $15k, prolly closer to $13k. They can be had for $16-16.5k new for some time now.

not really, wait 2 years till everyone forgets the great deals that were goin on for these cars... youll prolly get $16K even then, everyone will be sayin "hey that car was $21K new and look how sweet it looks and performs! i gotta have me one, theyre soo rare"

Well, considering the latest Consumer Reports giving it their highest rating for reliability customer satisfaction, fit and finish, etc...I'm gonna go ahead and bet on it.

(Of course, if you mod the crap out of it, that bet goes out the window!)

mspdfeak, i'm going with matthew on this one. dealership were giving these cars away! it was because they couldn't sell enough at msrp, so A LOT of owners have gotten great, cheap deals on their msp. i don't plan on paying over 14.5K for a well taken care of 03.5 msp when i buy in 12months.

Plus, (and no offense to you modders) a modded car's resale is surely going to be lower because of the obvious implication that the car has been abused. And, keeping all receipts for everything from oil changes to a brake job will increase the value greatly. I know that I would consider paying a higher than average price for a used car if I had proof that the car had been taken care of and well maintained.
But if you're counting on 14.5k in another year, it won't be for a new one. Dealers will dump the rest long before then. They have to pay a shitload of money to keep them on the lot, and they won't have iny 2003 models new in the year 2005. In fact, there's a local dealer who is trying to sell me a 2003 Evo VIII for 23.5k. It's been in the lot for 13 months!

Now, I tried to ask the same question many times and only got 1 or 2 serious responses... so here's my real-life non-speculated experience.

Edmunds said 18k for trade in or whatever. I traded the car, and the dealer gave me 16.3k. They had someone who wanted to buy the car, so I figure they'd be selling it for more than that. Obviously you'll get more if you sell to a private party. But expect to get between 14 and 16k on trade in if the car's in good shape.

Hope that helped
