I have another issue of when I am running the car at 9-10 psi when the car gets within a thousand rpm of redline it starts to make a funny clicking noise that sound alot like whe nyou where a kid and stuck a card in the spocks of your bicycle. If anyone could it would be great. Thanks David

My boost gauge ticks, but it happens the whole time I'm in boost. I think it's just something that some mechanical gauges do...I plan on getting better ones eventually.

I'm at stock boost, but on warm days, I sometimes get pinging at high rpm's..i assume its detonation. But not sure if its bad gas or what...

Funny i run 9-10 psi on 91 octane, no pinging or noises what so ever. Might be your boost gauge. Is it more audible with the windows down???

I do not think it is the boost gauge because it sounds like it is coming from under the hood. I have the Joep fcd and he said that he thought it might be that but it seems to loud to be that.

Try running higher octane gas like 100 octane in one tank and listen for detonation. If you still hear it, I would suspect an exhaust leak. Have someone rev it and listen near the exhaust manifold or try to locate the exact sound. Hopefully it's just a gasket.

old thread i know, but i have the same problem now.

I have a set of Autometer ultra light gauges (mechanical 20psi boost gauge, AF and EGT) with the Apexi AVC-R boost controller. I heard a clicking sound as soon as i start boosting, no matter what my boost controller is set at. I don't hear it when i turn it off though.

At first we thought it might be the valve inside the controller since the apexi has a duty cycle % setting, we thought maybe it was the valve opening and closing to control the boost, but my friend's car doesnt do it and he has the exact same EBC and gauges. The noise seems to come from the air vent on the left of the steering wheel .. so i guess it really comes from under the hood. My gauges are under my radio so i dont think its my boost gauge.

Any idea ? I also had a sub / amp installed if that makes any difference. Added a fuse and all the wiring under the hood ... could it be coming from the fuse box ? i dont know much about all this

help me please =) hehe

I have since added alot of stuff to my car and when I added the fmic it went away. I am still not sure what it was. Sorry.

maybe mine will go away because the FMIC is pretty much the only difference between my friend's car and mine. we'll see this week
