I'm not a n00b to the whole car tunning thing, not a n00b to mazda either.
I'm getting my MSP on Friday (dance). So i wanted to know, what should I know??? IS this car gonna throw me any surprises>?? I heard alot about intercooler overheating and tranny problems. What does warrenty do for you?

Like I said I just want to know what to expect. This being my first post here, is there anything i should know about this forum? I guess I'm a n00b here so..any help would be great?

peace

congrat's on your new car. Have your dealer flash the ECU (PCM) if you don't plan on boosting big time and install the 156E suspension bushings...

Enjoy!

Welcome to the site & CONGRATS on the new MSP!

I'm guessing intercooler overheating is your term for heatsoak...if so, then yes, this IC gets it bad.

As for the tranny, some people claim it sucks, but it's been proven to be able to be able to take a lot as long as you treat it right (meaning don't slam the gears, dump the clutch, etc).

If you have any other ?s, follow the previously stated suggestions or just PM/IM someone on here...most of us would be glad to help.

Thanks guys,

Heatsoak............see learned somthing already. ;)

As for the "search nazi's" I think I could handel them. People who flame n00bs just because there n00bs can lick my hairy ass.

welcome,

Nothing major to expect, my speakers went out on me and had to wait a while to get them. (the sub) But thats it, i didn't need the flash and got it anyways. Most dealerships are o.k. with mods, at least in my area. Good luck hope you enjoy, this thing is a handling beast, you'll see.

Welcome. Sure, we have a small intercooler that was designed for a Euro spec application...but it will perform adequately even at 10psi of boost, if you go that route. You can upgrade to an improved SMIC for $600 or an FMIC for $900.

As far as the tranny goes, no transmission will withstand abuse. There is no reverse synchro, so an occasional 1st-reverse or double clutch is in order.

Good luck and enjoy the ride.

Tonight tonight

7 hours till mazdaspeed. (burnout) (upyours)

Thanks for all the replys, i've got a guy on the "inside" his a mazda mechanic and he told me he will close a blind eye to some of the things i want to do.

I sure this thing handels like a beast but i'm coming from a subaru, a subaru that I spent 10k on, 4k of that 10k was suspension. But i'll deal ;)

Bout the intercooler, is there a fix? What about a BOV what do you guys suggest?

Respect

edit: I heard that summer is going to suck with the heat-soak problem. The ext. temp just adds more un-nessisary heat. True?
