Just wondering how many ppl. are running the Apex downpipe w/ the highflow cat. It sucks because here in CA I would have to shell out the extra cash for the one with the cat. How much of a gain can I expect fromt his mod alone as my first performance mod, or should I go with something else instead?

I just ordered the DP w/cat yesterday. Should get it in two weeks. I plan on having a place here make me a 2.5" pipe from the DP to the muffler. I hope I will see some gains. The only other thing I've done to it was gauge/pod and k&n filter. I also have the mbc/fcd but I am not going to install it until I get the intercooler. That way I probably will see an awsome gain when I put the mbc on.

I currently have a custom cat back 2.5 to muffler. I will be getting my apex dp with high flow cat tommorrow. I'll let you know if I fill a difference. Just doing the custom cat back the front wheels like to spin more, plus the revs move a little quicker. So hopefully the dp will make a diff.

sounds awesome. Im just gonna go with the CAI for now and then get the cat-back system w/ APEXi N1 muffler. Maybe I'll get the DP later, but still, let me know how you like the DP w/ the cat. Thanks for all the replies...

I just looked at the exhaust and noticed that the resonator (or at least I think thats what it is) is where I will be having them build the 2.5" pipe. My question is, do I need to buy a new resonator? If not, how much louder will the exhaust be?

Recap: Bought a Apex DP, having the muffler shop bend me a 2.5" pipe to the muffler. I am going to keep the stock muffler, for now.

Thanks,
Dave

d stickney, I thought about doing that too but decided to go with the Corksport. I'm going to have a hi flow cat welded in as we have emissions testing here too.

I think you are on the right track. I'd do the DP first as that's where the restriction appears to be.

When I bend the pipe, should I go straight back under the axle or bend it like stock (over the axle)?

I would be concerned with ground clearance going under the axle, but check with the shop doing the work. I think all or most go over the axle.

under the axle would prolly be a more direct route...that's if you went with an aftermarket muffler or something and angled it. over the axle is prolly your safest/best bet. just be careful. some places have trouble getting the bend just right and the muffler ends up pointing down rather than straight out.
