View Full Version : To Flash or not to Flash?

I pretty familiar to A/F Ratios but, if I've got plans to upgrade and yank up the boost, is it better to leave the car as is rather than "flash" it? I'd rather start with a rich setting. (Duh) I'm looking to get the most out of the stock turbo system. I'll do plugs, intercooler, CAI, exhaust and downpipe, but mostly extra boost. And if I have to larger injectors. Basically till it starts to ping on race gas (100 octane). Just wanted to get a feel from people who've done both flashed cars and non flashed cars with mods.
Thanks for the help.

Mike

I've done lots of searching and thinking about what I want, but I wanted to hear some other ideas if guys could. Thanks

I've used both the unflashed and flash ECU on my car and I'm back to the unflashed. Love it.

Depends on what kinda boost you wanna play with. If you're going to stay "safe" and keep it <10, get the flash. If you're planning on going above that, don't.

I'm flashed and based on your plans I'd recommend NOT flashing if I was you. The flash didn't do much for me.

Could you guys reiterate about the flash "sticker" if the flash was performed on the car or not?

Also, would you recommend the Joe P FPR on an unflashed ecu?

Remember you're talking to a guy who runs 20psi on stock turbos on my Z with no ECU upgrade. I look to get the most out of what I have and go from there.
Thanks
M

Wow thanks for contributing nothing useful to this thread....and your a moderator?

How does the guy know his cars ecu isnt already flashed? It is a 2003.5 is it not?

Maybe if he knew about the Joe P FPR it might change his mind about getting the flash.

And actually, *YOU* were asking the question for your own purpose, not to help him. You should know better. And if you read the thread, you'd see I did contribute. You have just been owned.

(thought) Go to the dealer and have them do a VIN check - any outstanding TSB's and recalls will be listed. Also if any work was done to the car at a dealer it should be recorded too.

lets think a second before we post. (uhm) mabey his car is Ti? Wow - I know a TON of 2003's that came in Ti--
