(huh) I was just wondering about a couple of things so I thought I would ask. First of all which has more performance potential the MSP or toyota celica? (the newer celica's) Also if you could afford both and afford to mod them which would you buy? I am 18 and may be in the market for a new car before long. How hard would it be to find a 2003 MSP (not 2003.5) and what would I expect to pay for one? (I like the 2003's better) I would like your unbiased opinions on both cars. Which would have cheaper insurance for me? I am a 18yr old male in N.C. and I think I have 3 points on my License. Does anyone have estimates for insurace for 6 months? I like both but the celica just looks awesome in my opinion. Any opinions are appreciated!
Thanks!

Check your sig, I think you already have the answer. Turbo cars are almost always easier to mod & the MSP already has a lot of nice parts on it whereas the Celica has none.
As for prices, insurance, availability...that's all based on your location & other things that I don't know the answer to.

Celicas are all over the place. MSP looks nicer and is not as common.

Having owned both....
point one : my insurance is cheaper on the brand new MSP than it was on the old celica. I have no idea why but am enjoying it.
point two: MSP is more fun to drive. The celica GT is OK (what I owned), but has a lot of body roll by comparison and does not overall handle as neatly. It doesn't give you that same rush that spooling a turbo does. Also the GT-S was supposed to have a nutty gearbox & I don't like 6-speeds. I think they fixed it somewhat in later models, but back when I had my GT all the GT-S people were complaining about misshifting to 2nd from 5th. Suck.
My GT was problem ridden. The hydraulics in the rear hatch went to crap at about 18months and the trunk kept closing on my head. There was a recurring breathing problem where it would stall at idle do nothing for 2-3 months and then start stalling again. The toyota techs never could figure out what caused it. I was unfortunate enough to have an automatic and the auto-tranny is shit on that car. It eventually started shifting on me randomly between the top gears.
Besides that the car is LOUD and gives a very rough ride that degrades from somewhat acceptable to really unpleasent as it ages. I owned mine 2 years and I have never been so happy to be rid of a car before.
I like my MSP 500% better, but it should be noted that I had what was probably a worse-than-average celica. If you're comparing the cars stock MSP no question - if on the other hand you plan to seriously mod your car its a bit more of a toss up - toyota runs a better aftermarket program than mazda & I think you can get some TRD parts warrantied. I know they were making a turbo for the GT and supercharger for the GT-S at one point but stopped keeping up with all of it when I started wanting to drive my car into the ocean.
For rarity the MSP is the way to go definately - I see another MSP about once every 10days on a good month... I see about 10 celicas a day.

If you have to go Toyota look at the newest sion with a supercharger 200hp 20k.

If your points are for speeding or an at fault accident, your insurance will be sky high!(because of your age and gender) 16-25 year old males pay the most. Unless your record is clean, you will be surcharged. You will find more mods for a celica vs an MSP. But that is changing daily. My vote would be for a MSP over a Celica any day. Turbo vs NA, the choice is clear.

At least in the Celica you have a lot more potential.... to be laughed at and asked why you're driving your girlfriend's car.
No seriously, get the MSP. Drive them both and you'll see an obvious difference.
