Oh my where do I start.

I received the MBC to put on "my friends" car. It looked very simple and I had instructions off Joe's web site for install. Very very simple to put in. I'm thinking 15 20 minutes tops, pull off this line put it here, run this to here. Basically 2 steps. I start by seeing how I can get the bottom line off the stock "T". I see it's glued so I proceed carefully NOT to break anything....yea right. I get a nice snap on small small screwdriver carefully pulling the hose away from the "T". This f'in piece of shit disintegrates right in front of my eyes using pressure my 8 month could have overcome. What a giant load of crap! It's like it was paper! So now I have a mess 2 minutes into this "15" minute install. There is a small piece of "T" inside the bottom tube that I have to get out to install MY (thank God in stock) good new "T". Got it out by cutting the damm hose. VERY glued in there. Now I have to remove the rest of the "T" now just a - between 2 hoses.

Yea piece of cake, sure. Some douche used a drum of glue on my car. I wrestle with those 2 for about 30 minutes finally cutting them out. Now I need to shove a 40 pound laxative into a f'in worms butt hole! yea that's not gunna work cause every time I try and insert either the new T (Proper size) or the MBC into "my friends" crappy, dry, HARD plastic tubing, it just splits open ...more and more. THANKS MAZDA! Finally I get a 1/4-to-1/4 adapter and shave it down on one side and carefully insert it into the crappy factory hose the other side into normal rubber stuff. Finally it's done. I forgot to set it to what I think is 10psi but at this point I don’t care. I’m test driving “my friends” car.
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
I let it get to temp and it hits like a beast! 10 psi on the nose. It’s a different car. Holds boost like stock, no spike. Unreal. Best 35 bucks “my friend” spent. I go get some 94 octane (1.99). and I’m golden. They also had 100 octane for 4.29 a gall. Highly recommended mod, just don’t think it will be that easy. Buy an extra “T”.

Dude I couldn't believe it. It practically fell off in my hand! :bs:

Mine split like a mofo too. I had to buy an adapter and what not. My t fitting did not break but cutting the hose meant that I had to put an extension on there when I went back to stock. Damn thing kept splitting.

All of the stock vacuum hoses SUCK...they just fall apart. Someone told me there is a TSB for it & the dealer will replace the lines with good hoses. The other problem is that they super glued those plastic Ts in there, so they are a PITA to get out. My MBC install took almost 2 hours. If you do it yourself, I recommend just buying 3/16 fuel line from Discount Auto.

well when i took my bottom hose off i took my time takin it off the fitting...once it was off i cut about 1/4" of the hose and rerouted it straight up instead of across then up like stock....when i get my intake and fmic i plan to reroute all the hoses with silicon and t off the brake booster line....clean up mazda's stupidity :)

I was going to replace them all myself but I figured the dealership would be like you modified and blah blah blah so your warranty is is now useless.(chair)

Yea ... I was close to replacing the hose to the waste gate and the hose to the manifold. very close. (jerkit) Which is BS. I would have spent the extra 200 on the car to have good f'in hose!

You installed a boost controller and you're worried about your dealership bitching about the hoses being changed?

Anyway, the stock hoses suck and compared to the feel of the HT ones, they need to be replaced as soon as you buy the car. Quality lines mean less chance of a leak and fuck up. I'd highly suggest changing the hoses to regular 3/16" vac hose.

I was waiting for that. Actually the car has been back to stock boost for the past 6 months or so and I probably will not put the controller back in until my warranty is voided. My dealership is pretty cool with simple bolt ons but I'm sure the MBC would be a no go. They said intake and exhaust is ok so I plan on doing those as my next performance mods.

Isn't there something you can spray on them to work them loose? I would think they sell something like that. I am about to put on mine soon, I definately don't want to crack or break the hoses, as I want to be able to take it off when going to the dealer.

yea guys , change out the lines, if the dealer gives you shit, tell then you had a problem and you tracked it down to a vacuum leak and you replaced the hoses. Bring an example in your hand to show them the CRAP hoses we have.

II-savy, say again what I should get before this install? I am getting ready to install my JoeP MBC soon. Hose and a stock T fitting? What do you guys recommend. I want to be as prepared as possible for this stuff. (rockon)

yea just to cover your ass, get an extra t fitting, 1/4 inch. and buy a bunch of hose. I would replace the hose from the wastegate AND the hose from the manifold.

Where from, like Murray's or Pep Boys or some place like that? Or the stock Mazda fitting?

Dr.Sound

took me 10 minutes on every car i've installed JoeP MBC on.......about 8

u carefully, with small flat screwdriver, get the bottom (wastgate) line off of the T.

it WILL split, but if u're carefull then it will only split for about 1/8 of an inch.

then u cut off whatever split.

go to Pep Boys and get 1ft of 3/16 hose - $.65
and a "pass through" plastic fitting - $1.99

u only need about 2 inches of the hose u just bought.

insert one end of "pass through" fitting into the wastgate line, then take the 2 inches of new hose and insert that into the other end of "pass through".
if need be, secure the ends with small 1/4" black zip ties.

the new hose stretches very well, and will fit the MBC much better.

U DO NOT NEED A NEW T FITTING
U DO NOT NEED TO REPLACE THE WHOLE HOSE TO THE WASTGATE
when u take the MBC out if u want to go to the dealer, then all u have to do is take off the MBC, take the 2 inch extension u made and insert it into the T.
if they ask why the line is extended tell them that it was a temporary location for the boost gauge.

there is also that foam cover for the line
after putting the extension in, just pull the cover over the "pass through"..........now it's invisible

(hand) Yea don't be prepared if you break the stock T fitting, whatever. Drive a different car to the store after you break it and buy a new T fitting. Dude Trust me. Buy a bunch of hose and replace it to the wastegate and make it good nice solid hose. It's not worth fucking with crappy dried out hose from WWI. I'm not gaining anything by telling you to be careful with the stock T and by having one on hand JUST IN CASE.

Dr.Sound

stock T is stronger than aftermarket ones, plus why would u want to fuck with the rest of your vacuum lines?
just more shit for a dealer to bitch about.

dude, and dont get an attitude
u did it once and u fucked up, i'm telling u how to do it right.

Well my stock T was absolutly NOT strong. I believe the glue helped it's weakening. Also I'm not suggesting you fuck with THE REST of the lines, only 2. At minumum the wastgate one is crap. I guess it depends how brittle your lines are. Mine were a joke.

Dr.Sound
03-09-2004, 03:49 PM
slowly seperate the line form the T, dont force it, dont use leverage to force it out. leverage WILL brake any T.
just seperate the sides and it will disconnect without any force.

Thanks Victor, I will prolly do both things. I don't like being caught in pinch. I appreciate your step by step on this. :)

II-savy its cool, I will prolly get the T fitting just in case. I know how I am when installing things. (stupid) (smoke) Replacing the hose would be the anal-really sweet way to go. But I can see where Victor is coming from. Once I get into it I will decide what I want to do. (thumb)

chill guys...i did the same as dr. sound..snipped of about 1/4 of the stock hose and i worked the mbc into the stock hose fine...u just gotta do it slow and take ur time....after a few fittings i can pop my mbc on and off in less then 10 min....i wanna replace my hoses for the sake of not havin to do it down the road....mazda screwed up the rx7 vac hoses also....i rather switch to silicon now before i start gettin leaks and i gotta trouble shoot the shit lol

a lot of people cant fit stock line onto the MBC......that's why the extension helps.

That is the best bet there. I had no issues with hose cracking though, but I had rubber from the factory, not plastic. I have heard of people having either one.

Heatgun, 5 seconds, max setting. No problems. Uh, oh yeah, that was the third time around. I had it split, brittle, etc.

Get a new T, new hoses, and be done with it. (fuck the dealer)

Yea I tried a hair dryer on the hottest setting and still no luck. A guy here at work said to try soaking the end in very hot water to maybe soften it up....but yea screw the dealer, the new stuff is way better.

Welcome to my nightmare. I had the dealer replace all that shit hose. It was cracked, brittle and BURNT! This was according to the tech that replaced it. Not all MSP's had the same type of hose on them. My MSP had the small, crappy hose like yours most others seem to have the larger, less crack prone hose. Lucky US!
Well it is all good now and after the hose swap at the dealer my car runs 14PSI stock WOOHOO! It is not as consistent as before but that will change when I put my Little Joey P MBC back on.

14 PSI or 4 PSI? STOCK? Well to be quite honest on a 3-2 downshift my gauge hits 15PSI.
All stock baby! Yeah I think they "tuned" the wastegate after the hose replacement. They put 30 miles on it while they had it. My dealer kicks ass for me (thumb) I called the service rep and told her to, "Beat the shit out of it!"
I wanted them to break it there if it was gonna go.
