If i only get an S pipe will I see any better performance, or would i need downpipe? I'm debating saving a little money and getting either just s pipe, or both downpipe and s pipe. But would it make sense or just wait until i can get a full exhaust.

This whole subject has me confused! (boom07)
I read somewhere on this forum that the stock s pipe is not restrictive. I just ordered my downpipe from Apex and the guy told me they are working on an aftermarket s pipe. Basically all they're doing is gutting it. So who knows...
I am just doing one thing at a time.

I doubt you will see any performance from a S pipe. I would go with the downpipe thats where the restriction is at. The S pipe is not restrictive at all Ive taken a look at one before that was on our car.

ok, just to clarify...the s-pipe IS the downpipe :).

every little bit helps, whether you open the exhaust in steps or all at once, your turbo will love you more

No it isn't.....it's 2 different pieces. The S-pipe goes from the turbo to the downpipe. If they are the same then how did I replace just the downpipe?

What your calling the downpipe is actually a midpipe and the s-pipe is the downpipe. I noticed a quicker spool time with the installation of Apex motorsports MIDPIPE, and I love there complete cat-back exhaust system.

Yup Daniel's got it right...what we usually refer to as the downpipe is actually the midpipe.

The actual downpipe (s pipe ) as i have read from most of the posts is not worth replacing as it not that restricting.

From what I understand, no gains have been recorded from changing the s-pipe. I am very satisfied with my mid-pipe and don't plan on any other exhaust mods. (Aside from installing my oversized chrome muffler tip with blinking multi-colored LEDs)(ricer)
