Hi. I own a regular old 2000 Protege. Not a high performance car and I won't kid anyone into thinking that I'm a car guy. My question is this. This car has always had problems with hesitation, sometimes far worse than others. It particularly will occur on an incline. I've changed plugs and wires a couple of times and that helps, but the problem never completely goes away. Any thoughts? Thanks.

ive heard that the 2000 pros have had a lot of problems with the MAF. have you checked that? it could just need cleaned.

the maf problem was only with 1.6L's i believe

is there an off chance you have a 1.8L (ES)?

i ahve a 00 ES. i have not had a problem with hesitation yet. the only time something close to that happens is when i start the car. and the O2 sensor wants to act up and the car thinks it is gonna stall . and sometimes does. :-(.. but other than that lil porblem the car runs great.
