Hey All!.:)

Thanks for all the information on the upcoming MS-P. I was excited to know that this car is coming back with more perforamce. Originally, i wanted the Mp3 but when i wanted to order one, it was already sold out! I'm glad that i waited.

Like other members on this board, i've put a deposit down and i have to wait on it's arrival. They've told me Approx. September for Delivery. I know that this car will be worth waiting for, so, as long as it arrives it doesn't matter how long it will take, as i am in no rush for a new car.

Anyways, let's get a list of names of people who has a MS-P on order at the moment. I'll begin!

Hey Limited Edition, which dealer in the GTA did you go to? And how much did he quote you for the final price? I live in Mississauga and am very tempted to put a deposit as well.

I got a broker to buy my car for me. I didn't exactly go through any dealership in Toronto to buy it. But i will be picking up my car at 'Durham Mazda' in Pickering, Ontario.

They quoted me $26-27K for it. But i personally believe that it should be $26K or lower! :p

Don't worry about the deposit, it's fully refundable if you don't agree to the final price of the car. If you are not satisfied with the final MSRP, my broker told me to not to worry as they will give me a full refund back. There's almost nothing to lose. Go ahead with the deposit!:D

I ordered one on May 28th. The wait is killing me. I talked to the salesman at Erin Mills Mazda , where I ordered it from on Wednesday and he is expecting a late September delivery date, with a price that will not exceed $26,000 or I get my deposit back. On a side note I was talking to my friend whose parents own a Mazda dealership in New Brunswick ( Patterson Mazda ) and for the four maritime provinces they get all of 3 of the MS Proteges. They are pissed off to say the least. Actually Quebec is receiving the biggest allotment of MS proteges. Also my friend informed me that just like the MP3, Canada will be getting only 1 of the 2 available colours. The Mp3 got only the blue and no yellow ( unless you imported it ) and the Ms protege will get the orange with no black available. Thats okay as the car will stand out way more and will be much easier to keep clean. With a car this rare it is better if the colour makes it that much more distinctive anyway. I can't wait , I only hope the car meets our lofty expectations.

Wolf Langley dealer claims there are 300 coming to Canada. I'd guess 1/dealership in the lower mainland of BC.

I wish i could say i was going to sale my mp3 for the new one, but i cant........From what i was told the mazda dealer in las vegas that i bought my car from is the largest in the western united states........So for the ones who cant get it at their dealer try courtesy mazda in las vegas, they will recieve more than most dealers. My dad wont let me sale my mp3 for the new one but i am over it......I am lucky just to have the car i got.......

Also the word is they wont let us test drive the car until we buy it.....the reason too many miles were put on the mp3s from test driving.....I went to my dealer they told me that, but there are exceptions im sure, especially if you have gotten many cars from your mazda or you are tight with certain people their........

When I got my mp3 it have 50km on it, and tar underneath... the tar came off no problem but it was annoying. :(

But hopefully since I have reserved my MSP months ahead hopefully this one will have almost nothing :)

I'm still debating if I should sell my MP3 and get the Mazdaspeed. One thing holding me back from buying the Mazdaspeed is the colors. Black and orange what was mazda thinking. If I decide to get the Mazdaspeed it will be the orange one because i can not stand black. Maybe my name will be on the list soon. I will let you guys know.

i dunno, a lot of ppl seem to think it better to mickey mouse their mp3. Last time i checked at my dealer I was still the only one to have put down a deposit.

I've put my deposit down at a local dealer here in NC, They told me that only mazdaspeed dealers will sell these MSP's. I've called all the mazda dealers in my area and 1 out of the 5 said they will be a mazdaspeed dealer. Anyways...just thought I would share....Can't wait for that phone call sayin my MSP has arrived...congrats to the others who have put the money down on theirs.

I talked to Mazda South in Austin about possibly trading in my MP3 for one. They said that they could get me a good deal because folks want the MP3 still. I am just trying to leave my options open just in case I can't get the BEGI Turbo Kit.

You can add me to the list. I'm a Torontonian, but like Almzkid, bought at Erin Mills. BTW, I'm #3 on their list.

Talked to Mazda Canada Cust. Rel'ns and they still cannot give a delivery date. They did say that the 03 Regular Proteges are coming in mid-Sept (started manufacturing in July). Given that they need to be mod. in the US, count on another month.

Also, they have no prices, but say that the upper limit is $30k CAD.

Ditto. I was quoted originally from Burlington and Erin Mills $24-25k. Those, I doubt. I think that $27K is reasonable ($3k for turbo and upgrades), and therefore Raptor's # is likely. $30 puts it into the big dogs' pound (Type S and Recaro GTI ), and that is more than I want to spend.

I was just informed by the Mazda salesman who put me on the list that the original release date (which he claimed to be Sept 1st) gonna be pushed to Oct. 1st. He said they are going to make it an official release date so I assume what that means is when all Mazdaspeed dealers got their cars they'll roll out the release together... so I guess we who live in Vancouver don't get any advantages by living near the port this time :p

My dealer is holding my deposit against MSRP.....which is what my receipt says.....I am the only one currently having put a deposit down....but they have had alot of people just calling in and asking for info.....but no one has actually come in to talk face to face......i kinda feel special.....I'm hopin they don't arrive here til after oct 1...cuz I dont exactly have a great down payment saved up......but they said they would hold a car for up to 1 month since i have a deposit....anyways.....good luck to everyone else gettin theirs....later

I asked the dealer if he had a list for the MS-P and he said no. I told him to get out a pen and paper and make one. I ordered an orange one. He didn't make me put down a deposit because I know the owner and I am president of the local Miata club and do a lot of promote their dealership.

well, as irate as I am about it, you can take me OFF THE LIST of ppl. I went into my dealer told him I have talked to other dealers in the area and no one else is charging over MSRP, and that there will be a second run of these cars in the spring so they arent even as limited as he leads me to believe, and i said that I had decided not to pay over MSRP and he says "ok, lemme go cancel your order"

what a prick. I tried to talk with him for a minute about it and he was zero tolerance not moving an inch on the price. I said well I would like to keep my business with you but I dont like the idea of getting jerked around, and thats what you are doin to me if I am paying more for a car than anyone else for no reason. and he says "there is a reason, I have more buyers than I do cars" NICE.......REAL NICE........good to see a dealer lookin out for their customers........E@#I$E@#R@*(.........so now I need to find another mazdaspeed franchise in my area (the ones I called that I know are not charging over MSRP are a cple hours away, super inconvenient)

out the pricing for it. IF it is indeed $25,500 CAD that is an
absolute steal =D

I do have deposit down for a spec-v on order; however, if the ms-p ends up being TOO high, then i can fall back on my spec-v order :)

I posed some direct questions to Callaway (based upon the article in carconnection.com), and received the following.

"Actually the turbo's are being installed at the ports (including Port Vancouver) not here in CT. Production will begin late Sept. and run through mid Nov.

Certification is being done by MNAO."

Certification is in regards to meeting gov't regs in both Canada and the U.S. If they release in batches, they'll probably make it in the showrooms starting early to mid October.

well, we know the cars have made it to port since a person spotted a lot of them at port. And i'm sure they're working on modifying them at the moment. So in my view, i was expecting around end of sept, to early october. One dealer said they do have them in port and are working on them like 2/3 weeks ago..

well, im back on the list, placed a deposit for a mazdasped again, this time for MSRP, not 1000 over. And I stopped by callaway last week (I live in CT) and they told me the same thing about work being done in the ports. They have a black prototype at their office but it wasnt there the day I stopped by. They said I might tno be allowed to see it anyways since theirs is only a prototype and not a production model.........

I was hoping to get all Torontonians who will be getting a MS-P to come out for a meet or something...It would be pretty cool to see about 3-5 MS-P all orange, might i add, to cruise/park/photoshoots.

I've had my ordered for 3 months now...it's beeen insanely long..
i hope to take delivery the 4th week of september of sometime in October too...
Price will NOT be in the $30'sK...that's for sure...
i don't think many people will buy it at that price..
at $30k+ i think you can totally get a different class car.
Keep in mind, this is just a 'protege'.

I live around around the Yorkdale area. Being 3rd in line at Erin Mills may place me into November delivery. However, actually seeing a snapshot of the cars in Van (see Ta Da thread), makes me a little more optimistic about earlier delivery.

Good idea about an MSP gathering of the clan.

BTW, the dealers now have a one pager glossy on the MSP. It has nothing new, but you get an actual 8.5x11 pic of the car on official literature memorabilia. Your sales guy should have one reserved for you. It is printed in Canada and says that the car will be out for a limited time starting Oct.

Several people have been talking about a second run. Have you heard anything re: Canada?

Yeah i saw the thread with the Snap Shoots of the MSP at the Vancouver Docks...I really have a good feeling that we will get our cars early October or maybe even the last week of this month!...There's NO way we will get our cars in November..usually when you order a car for '03 you should get it at least 3 months before the year ends...I think if they set there delivery date in November then some people might change their mind about the MS-P since there will be newer and better cars rolling out soon.

Yeah i got that 8.5" X 11" glossy photo and specs sheet from the dealership that is in fine printed in that 'handout' (don't know what else to call it) about a month ago.

a second run at this car?...i really doubt it!
I've ever heard from someone on this board that if they do come out it will be green or red colour?...weirdo.
How long has this generation protege been out? almost 4 years?..i think it's due for a new design...
this is just my own opinion...

i just put money down on mine last week. now both at my dealership are taken. im kinda worried though cause i keep on hearing different prices, my dealer said that it shoud be around $24,800. id guess maybe a lil higher but no more that $25,500 since the MP3 was $18,700 US and came out to $23,800 CDN, that would make the MSP's price of $20,000 US somewhere around the low $25,000's CDN??? right

but neways, if anyone has any solid info then please share :cool:

You can put me down for a MSP too. I got one set aside from my dealer come mid October. No deposit needed. However, one thing puzzles me about what they told me. They will get 4 in mid October (one of wich is MINE!!!) and 4 more come MARCH (second wave?)(scratch)

Yes, I'm from Oakville Ontario.
I put the deposit down at Westowne Mazda dealership way back in April. I have no problems with doing a meet. What I'm looking for now are snow tires and rims either 15" (if they will fit) or 16" (no problem).
Oh and about my licence plate/User name? It means "EXCESSIVE SPEED" = XSIVSPD.

I just put a deposit down on a spicy orange 30 minutes ago. Only 3 dealerships in Ohio getting them, and they said they should get around 8. Probably 2 orange, and 1 orange was already taken. Very excited. He said late November on the delivery date.

Late November? Why so late? My local dealer really expects to have their orange cars (about 10 of them) by late September/early October. They're also getting 10 black sometime later in the fall, those I would expect around late November.

Even Toadman, the guy who posted the pictures of the Mazdaspeeds in progress, said they should all be shipped out by the end of this month.

I guess you don't have me. I was on "the list" for months. I was actually told I was 3rd in line or something, but I was the first at my dealer to give 'em a deposit check. Now, as soon as the cars get invoiced for the dealer, they'll let me know when exactly they're coming in. I should even be able to get my pick of VINs (to get the lowest number) before they come in, or my pick of car when they do arrive.

Spicy Orange all the way! Now to try to get a good vanity tag...

yeah seriously dont pay that, my dealer is charging me exactly 20,500. If you end up paying that much your getting so ripped off because they are suppose to sell it for the msrp price. Whach out for dealers like that they are just trying to scam as much money from you and they can

I actually had to drive all over the damn state to get the deal. I ended up going to see Bill Hamilton at Metrowest in Shrewsbury after he told me on the phone that they never sell cars over sticker. He decided to change his tune once I got there. $1K over, best he could do. Dick. So I ended up driving another hour to a place in South Attleboro (RI-Mass border) and put a deposit down on one for MSRP. I still haven't cancelled the other deposit. Hopefully I can get that dealer to drop to MSRP because its about 40 minutes closer to me. Of course, the Sales Manager is on vacation there until Friday so the two deposits stay on the credit card for the rest of the week. The saga continues...

I agree. The dealer I spoke to said they were going to shop other Mazdaspeed dealers to see if they are going over MSRP. (This was after I made my deposit BTW, so not a pressure tactic)

I just said to him, "If you all were charging 2k over, I'd just get a WRX".

Add me to the list. I was the first to put a deposit down at a dealer in PA. With tax, title, license and fees it came out to $21870 and I got the 5.9% APR.

They had all come back from the Mazdaspeed school and said the car is absolutely amazing and a blast to drive. They are getting their shipment first or second week in October but they are not sure if they are coming in waves or if they will get all 14 at the same time.

Looks like I'll be getting the first spicy orange to roll off the truck in Philadelphia.

Agreed. But it's still amazing that it only has about 1/10 the views as the Hot Girl Thread in Off Topic....which, of course, is completely understandable.

I am on the list already....getting spicy Orange and live in toronto, on.

I will when I eventually get the car take a picture of my MP3 and MSP sitting side by side....by the time this car arrives I may actually be able to drive it rather than park it in the garage.

Mazda can wait until spring now to deliver the car as far as I am concerned

Wow, i actually read over all 10 pages of this thread. I had to bring back some old memories.

Seeing we're 3 years later since this thread was brought up, who still owns there car and is as happy as they were when they had ordered it?

I wish i could keep my name to this list, but unfortunately, i had lost my car to a terrible flood this past summer. Still hard to believe.....
