I have had my Protege for about 2 months now and it about a month ago, a rotten egg smell started coming into my car. Now it is frequent and people who drive behind me notice it. I know it is my catalytic converter, but I was planning on doing a new exhaust anyway so should I replace the converter with another stock on or just do a whole aftermarket exhaust?

I know Wager Motorsports makes the mid-section pipe that you need. They can do with or without cats. They offered to make a custom diameter pipe for me at no extra charge, so feel free to contact them and give it a shot.

could be bad gas, could be bad emissions equipment.
i think mazda has like a 7yr emissions warranty, if you havent modified anything go take it to your dealer and see what they say
at the minimum you would at least know whats wrong with the car.

Yeah My car does the same thing. I work at a mazda dealer and good freinds with the mazda tech. Ive had mine in a few times to get that checked out. As of right now there is nothing you can really do but get aftermarket exhaust. We have had 2 others in with the same problem. I ve tried 10 diffrent gas stations and every kind of gas at each and it still happens. Been dealling with it for about 5 months now. Mazda claims that there is not a problem and there is nothing they can do right now.
