For the most part everything went fine, instructions were good, though the pictures were a little fuzzy. The only real slowdown was that damn retaining clip, I bought a retainging clip tool and it turns out the spread of the pins was not wide enough, or the clip was a little wider than normal, eventually i got it out, pulled out the old shifter and put everthing back together. Then came that damn retaining clip, with it out of the car the gap was way to wide for the tool to grab, so i tried to baby in with a screwdriver and the tool and had limited success, i probably tried that for an hour. I finally said the hell with it and used a pair of pliers and compressed the ring till i could use the tool, after ten minutes of squeezing and adjusting i finally got it in. Every thing else went smooth.
My first impressions are that the throws are definately shorter, maybe by 50%, shifter is more solid feeling and a little stiff right now, from what i have read that it will loosen up with time. Do i think it was worth it, YES! just call it a learning experiance, so any one else considering changing shifters i say go for it!
As a side bar i was working on the shifter in our condo parking lot since i don't have a garage, when i hear excuse me, so i pull my head out of the car and who do i see but my local police, he asked do you know that you are parked in a handicapped spot, we have two in front of our unit, i said yes i am changing my shifter and the ground is oil free in these spots, apparently someone had called 911 and thought the somebody was up to some mischief. The officer noticed the car on ramps and knew i wasn't trying to steal something, he asked for id I said its inside, he then asked do you live here, i said yes gave him my registration and proof of insurance, he called it in, everthing came back to the address where were at, he was actually pretty cool and he had no problem with what i was doing.
