Alright, I've done a little bit of stereo work before, so I have a general idea of what I'm doing (Ihave a 03.5 if it matters). I'm trying to install sirius on the stock deck. I can't figure out how to get it out though. I've peeled off the front of the dash with the carbon fibre on it. but it seems like were the temp nobs and stuff are, it doesn't want to come off. Do you just take out the 2 screws, and the little plastic things to get that off or what? Secondly; I can't figure out how to get the head unit itself out. I looked at it from under the dash, and it doesn't like like it's screwed on. I tried pulling on it, but it didn't really want to move. Is there a special trick to this, or not?? Any help would be appreciated.

i dont have a mazdaspeed, but i am familiar with kenwood decks, do you have the kenwood keys to take out the head unit...on the each side of the deck, theres a small slot where you slide the key in and you should feel it pinch on the key...once you feel it kinda push the tabs on each side, you should be able to pull the deck out...hopefully this helps...

I'm assuming only a dealer will have these....like best buy or circuit city or something. They don't just get sold over the counter right?

swimmingweasel - just take off the trim ring around the headunit itself. I had one key from one of my old decks, but I didn't have another for the other side so I used real thin long tweezer set and stuck in the slot on the side just enough to unlock the deck. If you don't have any keys you need something that is metal really thin and strong enough to put in on the side of the deck to unlock the tabs. If you have small hands I was able to push from behind the head unit from the glove box area. Good Luck!

best buy or circuit city would have them...they come in the box with kenwood decks...ask one of the installers at those shops and they might be able to help out...youll also be very happy with the sirius set up...satellite radio is the shit

You can just reach up behind the deck through the glove box and plug it in on the right side of the deck. I didn't take my deck out to install it.

I actually took mine to Best Buy (didnt have the keys, and couldnt figure out how to plug it in while leaving the deck in) and they plugged it in for me for free, and it took him 45 seconds.

Well, I put the antena on the roof just above the back window. Stuck the wires in the molding/weatherstripping, whatever you want to call it. And ran it through the trunk, along the drivers side under the paneling. I put the actual tuner under the drivers seat. I got the power from the fuse box. I wired it in with the power locks (30 amp fuse, the tuner has a 3 amp fuse), and grounded it to something metal in the dash where it was all conceled. I then ran the coax cable under the center console behind the CD player, etc. I actually did take the the deck out and got it all working lovely. I had sirius in my last car and loved it, I'm sure i'll love it in here too!

Sounds like you got the old tuner. The newer one just plugs into the headunit...no power/ground required :) Just two connections -- one for the antenna, one for the data cable going to the headunit.

Maybe you can get a 6ft antenna to put on top of your car...... breaker breaker lol

Now this is interesting info. I of course have an older one. I have been rockin' Sirius for almost a year now. I love the new Chill Channel 64! On a side note, I mounted my antenna on top of my trunklid centered behind my spoiler.

I have my attenna mounted on my rear deck lid inside the car right in the middle. I put a notch in the 3rd brake light plate and ran the wire under it. You can't see the wire and the attenna is stuck on with double sided tape. It's really clean.

Wow, I doubt I will get that lucky, but who knows.

Id take it to the Audio Visionz here in town but they have a reputation for making copies of your keys and then going to your home and stealing everything out of your car. Not something I would take lightly (flame2)

I got this about 10 month ago now, I had it in my old car until I let my fiance take it and bought this. I was going to put the antenna on the trunk lid, but because the directions say it has to be atleast x inches away from obsticles, I was a little skeptical how well it would work. I guess I could have tried just setting it there, but it was the first thing that I did.

Well, that would be nice....and would have been easier too but that would mean dropping like another $100 into it, which I'd rather prevent if I can.
