"Rebar" is the only word I remember from when someone converted their sedan. I'm no help, it's just I think that that might be the part needed.. not too sure.

you need the front bumper renforment. u can buy it at the dealership but it isnt cheap. there is a thread in the how-two forum about how to make ur stock es rebar fit, there is some cutting involved but u would save alot of money. u might also need a new set of fender wells. i was looking into doing this but its a boat load of money if u cant get your color- which u do. so good luck and i envy you!

you're going to need the following:

1) top grille
2) bottom grille
3) splash guards (left and right)
4) bumper reinforcement

ok let me clear things up

to do a correct conversion you need

a Reinforcement Bar (rebar as you call it) this is the part that absorbs impact. cutting it weakens the bar of course, and because of the way you cut it (to have room for the foglights in this case) an impact from an angle might cause more damage than it would with it.

bumper cover

fender wells/splash guards

grills/fogs with wiring harnesses

a reinforcement bar from the dealer shouldnt cost you more than 200 from the dealer.

if you go the cheap way by cutting, just cut where the fogs would go and thats pretty much it, it will fit from there.

i say you get everything but the front bumper, and buy the wings west bumper and paint it...u dont need any other parts for the sedan version

that would look so retarded imo.

the ww front bumper and side skirts have these 'ugly' wings that pertrude from the side.

using stock side skirts and the 03.5 rear skirt will make it look like it doesnt belong and nasty imo.

because of this, the ww side skirts were a little too wild for me so i traded them for the mp3 ones. i was thinking of getting the ww one but opt'ed not to.

i think the front grills are a bit different, the black bars vary in size.

also you would need a lower grill, and come to think of it he'd probably include it huh? i was thinking of the guy that bought the p5 bumper from me today.

natedizzle
02-24-2004, 10:39 PM
i don't see why he'd include the grilles because he'd have to use them for the wings west bumper

the wings west kit is now $675 shipped from mitch at protege5online.com if anyone is interested. i'm going that route because it is much more practical than doing the conversion

umm, hi perf, i dont think you understand . the guy is getting the full WW kit. and JUST selling the front and rear to Dreeza. Dreeza already found sideskirts so she isnt buying them from the same person.

I think it's the better option - cheaper and easier. It'll look good, imo.

read his post. he suggested to dreeza to buy the rear lip, use her mp3 side skirts, and to leave out the MSP front bumper and get a ww bumper for an easier install.

the ww bumper and 'stock' factory body kit would look hideous and out of place imo.

my purpose was just to let you know about those ugly little wings that is all.

03.5 MSP doesn't have fog lights, does she still have to cut the Reinforcement bar....

Dreeza, here's my suggestion: Buy it, take off your front fascia, try to fit it on. If it doesn't fit, drive for a few days without any fascia, well you spend your nights making lots of duct tape loops.

hey dreeza... what exactly is he selling to you? cause I have the entire MP3 conversion and I know exactly what you would need.. plus I can give you prices from what my dealer charged me...

So list out everything that hes giving and then I'll make a list for you...:)

thanks! well, like someone said...i dont have to worry about fogs...does that make a difference?

Hollywood2009
02-24-2004, 11:26 PM
Yes fogs do make a Diff. becuz the MSP bumper is the same as MP3 Bumper. All it does is add a lip That goes inside the foglight holes....

well if you have the lower grille, the fog hole grilles, the sideskirts, and the rear valance.. then you will still need:

(inner wheel well)L M Guard B30P-56-140A ~66.05$
(inner wheel well)R M Guard B30P-56-130A ~66.05$
Reinforcement Bar BN7H-50-070A ~204.55$

there is still the wing, but you didn't say anything about that...

OT: Hi Perf why did you cut the rebar???

MP3racer
02-25-2004, 01:23 AM
you're going to need the following:

1) top grille
2) bottom grille
3) splash guards (left and right)
4) bumper reinforcement
Yes you will need the lower grill from the MP3/MSP but your upper grill should be the same.
The rebar or what I call the bumper support will be needed from an MP3/MSP. You might be able to get one from a junk yard or possibly the one from the MP3 Lamp3 is parting out would work.

Take Care,
Tom

OT: Hi Perf why did you cut the rebar???
i didnt cut it. i advise against it. i was promoting a cheap way to do it.

i think it compromises safety, and that should not be cheap'ed out, it can cost you more if you are in a wreck (damage to the car)

im not going mp3 front end, im going to go jspec sport20 like the others.

No really the LX upper grille WILL fit! Stock DX/LX/ES's cant get the autoexe grille because it is designed to fit FLUSH with the MP3/MSP style bumper. Since stock DX/LX/ES front bumpers dont extend as far out in the upper grille area, the autoexe grille doesnt sit right ...
