View Full Version : 03/20/2004: MTMA Monthly Fun Run @ Yardley, PA

02-24-2004, 02:46 PM
Saturday, March 20th @ 2:00pm
Any significant chance of snow or rain will cancel the meet.
INFORMATION
The 'Fun Run' mini-meets are a monthly gathering of local Mazda owners who want to have a fun ride around the twisty backroads of Bucks County, PA. The cruise is a little over 40 miles long with plenty of twists, bends, hills, and curves http://www.msprotege.com/vbb300/ubb/smile.gif We'll be meeting up at the Park & Ride in Yardley, PA off of I-95 right on the NJ/PA border.
The cruise will start at 2:30, and usually takes about an hour. Directions will be given to anyone who needs them.
If we get a large turnout like the February one, I will alter the first half of the route slightly to avoid getting separated again!!
RULES
1. Keep a safe distance from each other. If we are going too slow for you, then just deal with it for the time being. I'll give you a copy of the directions if you want to take the drive faster by yourself.
2. Strictly obey any 25 MPH speed limits. There are a couple of residential areas along the ride.
3. Use common sense at all times. No burnouts, 'attempts' at drifting, etc.
4. We will be taking things fairly fast, so be prepared for some 'spirited' driving. People that do not feel comfortable taking sharp turns higher than the posted recommended speed (not the speed limit, the speed posted on the yellow signs) will want to stay towards the back of the pack.
5. On straights and slight curves, for the most part we will stay fairly close to the speed limit. However, there are some areas where we will temporarily 'kick it up a notch' ...anybody who has done the run before knows what I'm talking about...that huge downhill after the straight road where everyone was 'warming up their tires' ;)
6. If your car is *significantly* lower than stock you may want to think twice before going on the run. There are a lot of elevation changes, and people with really lowered cars have had some trouble.
DIRECTIONS
From NJ/North: Take I-95 into Pennsylvania. Take exit 51 (the first exit in PA) towards New Hope. The Park & Ride is on your right at the first light.
From NJ Turnpike: Take exit 7A to I-195 West. See directions from I-195.
From I-195:Take I-195 West to the end. Keep to the left, and 195 West will turn into Route 29 North. Continue on Route 29 North to I-95 South. Cross over the bridge, and take the first exit in PA (exit 51 towards New Hope).
From PA/South: Take I-95 North towards New Jersey. Take exit 51 (the last exit in PA). Keep left at the fork, and turn left onto Taylorsville Road. The Park & Ride is on your right at the first light.
From Southern NJTake I-295 North to the end. I-295 will turn into I-95 South. See directions from NJ/North.
If you have any questions about anything concerning this run, feel free to post a reply or send me a PM.
Everywhere else: Send me a PM with your location and I'll get you directions.

Would anyone be up for a smaller "unofficial" run on a different weekend? Maybe some people who can't make the "official" run?

I definitely will be, just depends on the day! Let me know which saturday and I'll give you an answer, but I will most definitely like to take another run! This time you take lead and see if I can follow!

If anyone wants to meet up during the week, that I can do. But I work 12 hour shifts on saturday and sunday (8am to 8pm) doing network administration for $27 an hour. The place is dead quiet and the enviornment is amazing.
I simply can't not go to work on the weekends. Love the job too much and the extra money is letting me pay off my car by the end of the year. (13 grand to go)

Hey guys, I should be there....on a side note would anyone be interested in meeting up earlier to paint brake calipers? I got 4 sample "mazdaspeed" decals from PoLaK, and wouldn't mind sharing 2 of them. Here is the link to the thread: http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=51150&page=2 so PM me or post here if you're interested in this.

I'd be down for that! What time were you thinking? Since the family will be out all day, I can get out whenever I want! Oh, the joys of fatherhood/husbandhood........I was also considering doing my valve cover that day, but maybe I'll just do the calipers.

Good questions indeed....I dunno how long it takes, can't be that long...Justing how long did it take to do yours? As for where...my house is about 20 minutes from the meeting place, or we could do it right at Park and Ride lot, any other suggestions?

To do a good job it takes a while....you have to do a bunch of very light coats, and then wait for them to dry.
I'd give 2 hours at least.
sidpro5
03-11-2004, 02:26 PM
Two hrs isn't too bad. Either spot should be good. Maybe we'd have more space at the PnR? Whichever. What all is needed for prep/cleaning the calipers?
M=SP^2
03-11-2004, 02:33 PM
Up to you guys, if it takes 2 hours might be better to do it at my place...lots of space, garage, can watch Chappele DVD while the paint dries up....good times (drinks) (drunk) (thinkbeer

Coqui258- check your other post about the tent.
Call your dealership or look in the phone book for paintless dent repair. I went to a place in Flemington. Guy did the car in one day and looked great. Probably only cost you about $50-75 for the dent that you have, only because it was on the body line. If it was anyplace else it would probably be about $25-30 bucks. Great deal. I can give you the name of where I went in Flemington, NJ if you want to drive all that way but anyplace can do it if they have paintless dent repair. And dont listen to the bodyshop guys that say that it cant be done bc it can be trust me. I had a shop tell me that there was no such thing as PDR. That you had to get the dent filled in with body filler and repainted which would cost a few hundred dollars.
Good luck

Ouch, yeah me too, no dice...I was thinking about it but with my car being lowered almost 2 inches, and the Subframe X being a 3" clearance from the ground....too much scraping for me, though the car is set for taking turns at extremely high speeds...I'll see you guys in April for the biggie sized.
