hello! i have a protege ES that i am installing a P5 front strut bar on to. i have all the brackets except for 1 bracket (which is circled in yellow in the attached pic). if anyone can give me the part # or any sorta info on what the stuff attached on the bracket is for, that would be awesome! thanks!!

hey, i did the same thing u did...but i never bought a new bracket, i ended up having someone just cut the black bracket so the cruise bracket will fit
i had tried getting it from my dealer...and he told me to just cut mine instead

i checked at the dealership and what they found was a 65$ bracket with the black thing attached to it. ... (uhm) a lil too much.. they told me to check a car dump and see if i can find one there.. (freak)

The bracket you circled is the Boost (vacuum) sensor bracket. Part no. is:
FS8M-18-835 and costs $6.72. I retrieved this information from TheMAN's FAQ. Access it at: http://web2.airmail.net/theman/protegefaq

you dont really need to use that bracket.

just put the hole from the vacuum sensor (black with mitsu sticker) onto that stud and use a nut to hold it down. it shouldnt be going anywhere.

You may be right but the OEM bracket comes with integral rubber mounts installed suggesting it might not be a good idea to rigidly mount the vacuum sensor. It might shorten the life of the sensor or affect its operation. I don't know for sure-just speculating.

thats why you dont tourque down all the way.

like i said its not going any where, you can even leave it dangling, its not going anywhere unless cut off and hauled away. i bet if you even just put it on the stud without a nut it would stay right in place even if you drive your car off a cliff

you shouldnt have drums in the back on a 2002 ES. you should have discs all around. check to make sure you didnt get ripped when you bought the car or perhaps you made a mistake with the models.

get some swaybars if you want a good suspension upgrade, the difference is like day and night.
