View Full Version : weird sound after intercooler pipe was replaced...and other things

i brought my car to the dealership because i was experiencing loss of power and i kept hearing a high pitched whistling sound at 3500rpms and up. i brought my car in they told me that the "nipple" broke where the rubber tubing connects to the bpv. they told me that the cause was my injen intake. apparently they were complaining because the pipe that connects to the turbo sits high and they think that it was pushing up against that "nipple".
anyway, i got my car back and the car really pulls harder than i can remember and sounds diff too. it makes me wonder how long my pipe was bad. i thought everything was perfect till last night.
last night i was driving my car home and i was hearing some weird noise coming from under the hood or possibly where my filter is. it sounds like a vibrating/humming/buzzing sound. i've only experienced it in 2nd/3rd gear after 3000-3500+rpms while my boost is at 5-6lbs.
-anyone know what this noise could be and the cause of it?
also, my headunit also went bad so they replaced it and in doing so they gave me a refurbished one. i could tell because it didn't look new and the silver paint was scratched quite a bit on the right upper corner of the head unit. also they left little scratches on the door of my little cubby that is under the headunit and also on the silver trim.
-the dealership SHOULD give me a new headunit and replace my console trim, right?
one last thing, sorry. i had my rotor hubs painted but i noticed small black streaks on the hubs. i tried rubbing them out but it doesnt come out. i read the thread with the common problems with the msp and t3ase said that the painting of the rotor hubs was a one time thing.
-does that mean that they won't repaint my hubs?
thanks, guys for the help.

this sound you hear, does it go away once you get up higher in the rpms? cause i think your car is doing the same that mine is/was. it's harder to hear now with my exhaust. my initial guess was a leaky bpv. but i have no boost gauge to confirm this. i have no idea what it is. doesn't seem to hurt anything though.

Kenwood is now currently sending us refurbished units, therefore thats what you get. If they scratched it then they should fix it.....if they own up to it. However the scratches you are describing don't sound like they would come from the removal of the headunit.
I had a cust. with a simaliar vibration complaint, it turns out he didnt have any kind insolator where the intake went through the hole by the coolant res.

the vibrating sound goes away once i hit higher rpm's and i'm at WOT.
as far as the scratches, they replaced the whole deck, not just the headunit. that's why i have the scratches. i baby my car. you can ask anyone in the california section (ex. dr.sound, spicymsp). anyway, i'll drive once i get off work and see how the car runs. that sound is really bothering me. it doesnt affect the power though.
oh, one more thing: i normally dont have the dealer wash my car but i was dealing with a new sales rep. they washed my car and i was walking around it yesterday and i noticed 4 faint clearcoat scratches. you think they'll do anything about it? i'm thinking no... :(

i'm trying to get a new headunit+new console from the dealer and the service rep there is telling me that their dealership is getting bought by someone else and that it's his last day. basically he doesnt want to help me anymore and is telling me to call back tomorrow and talk to someone else. im worried because the headunit they gave me was scratched up when i got it and they scratched the console.
what am i supposed to do now? i feel like i'm getting screwed over now. now the new service reps will think it was always like that and probably dont gimme an UNscratched headunit and won't replace my console trim. i'm kinda mad.
they also did a crappy job painting my rotors. yes, they're painted but there are also black streaks on both rear ones. can't wipe them out either.

Grow some nuts, rest, ...... then go down to the Dealer and tell them what you just told us, word for word.

my nuts are fine, thx. ^_^
i spoke to the new service rep and he basically told me that he couldn't do anything for 48 hours until the buy of the dealership is finalized. he told me to come in on monday to "look" at it. he didnt say he would do anything about it though. the old sales rep that was being a dick was there too. i told him to verify with him about the scratches. i just hope i dont get screwed over and he says that he doesnt know what i'm talking about. we'll see what happens.
