Well its sad to say but my 2003 Black Mica MSP is dead. Over the weekend my boy drove my car home from the bar we were at hit a deer and the rest is history. We clipped the dear spun and the next thing I know is we were in a colvert facing the other direction. My car had to be towed out of the colvert and up over the guard rail to get it back onto the road. This fucking car is trashed. All the body is crumbled, the wing is gone, and windshield cracked. Because they had to drag it over the guard the floor boards are now crushed up in the car. Needless to say but the car is totaled after only having it for about 5 months. Dead at 8000 Miles.
You know I have the worst luck in the world. I let him drive because he was not drinking and he hits a deer to total my car. You do the right thing and let someone be the designated driver and this is what happens. Well I guess we are lucky because everyone that saw the wreck says that if we would have hit the guard rail then we would have probally not lived to talk about it.
Going out on Monday to try and find a new one. Hopefully they will have some MSP's around here. I would like to have another. Keep your fingers crossed.

I totaled my MSP after having it for only about 9 months with 9400 miles on it. It sucks dont it?!?! i hated it. I flipped mine, but my girl and i were perfectly fine so that made everything alright. Sorry to hear about your lose but i can sympathize with yea.

That sucks! Is your insurance gonna cover it?? We had a brand new Volvo S60 at the dealership I work do the same thing, only they just ruined engine parts. But their insurance paid for it to be fixed.

yea I have full coverage plus gap coverage. I'm just wondering how long this process is gonna take. I am driving around in a bright red malibu rental and it sucks.

that really sux, but be glad you both came out with your lives. Also, take the insurance, and if you're in a good finacial position with the insurance money, put a down payment on a STi, or get another speed, whatever blows your hair back...you did the right thing letting your sober son drive.....

when I say my boy, I meant my friend. I don't have kids but If I did I would not go get drunk and have my son be the designated driver. I just wouldn't go out.

Definitely props go to you for having a DD. I know it seems like you did the right thing and got punished, but look at it like this. If you had been the one driving (impaired) and hit a deer think how badly things could have come out. Losing your car and then having to deal with a DUI and all things associated with that, just because of a friggin deer.
So like I said, thanks for doing the right thing and I am happy to hear that you and your friend are ok. Of course I am also sorry for your loss too. Best of luck with finding another MSP and if not a suitable replacement.

I don't know if I am gonna buy the car back. Like I said I've onl;y had the car for about 5 months so the insurance is def. gonna take the car. If it is not alot of money I will buy the car back and part it out def.

It all depends on your ins. company. When they ever decide to look at it, if the damage is bad, most likly they will total it. Look at it this way, you wont hear that clunk anymore!!

Glad to hear you're ok. Like everyone else said, You did the right thing by not driving. No matter how bad the situation looks right now, it could have been 10 times worse. Good to hear you had gap insurance as well. It'll definately take a lot of the headache out of getting another car.

yea I have full coverage plus gap coverage. I'm just wondering how long this process is gonna take. I am driving around in a bright red malibu rental and it sucks.Yeah my girl is driving the same thing, only difference is she's paying $300 a month for hers!
Hey OT: If the rental is a 2003 can you see if there is a real obnoxious clunk constant like at slow speeds as if you were doing a 3 pt turn, or pulling in a parking space? ( goes clunk, clunk, clunk as u turn the wheel) It is really pissing me off, and twice the dealer said they cant do anything and checked other malibu's and say it's normal. You cant miss it if its there. It's almost like a blown ball joint or something.

Glad to see you were able to walk away from the crash. Cars are easy to replace.
If you want another one, get on Mazda's website and plug in different zip codes to search dealer stocks in various areas. The last time I looked there were only a few yellow ones left in Ohio.

I'd be kinda happy if my speed was wrecked and I walked away. Everyone loves a new car! I'd get a WRX. Not that I think I'd like a WRX any better, I just like new stuff!

I didnt look where u are located, but if you cant find one take a trip to MA. Vachon mazda has at least 7 yellow, and titanium on the lot. Maybe black, they had a couple but I havent seen any recently. They have been there for a while. Too bad I couldnt get approved for one.
As to the deer. It is a scary sight seeing one of them bolting out of no where. Drunk or sober. I was driving to NC for vacation and on the way there I saw it's eyes only. But it screwed before I got close. On the way back to RI, there was one just standing right over the solid line seperating the brakedown lane and the right lane. It just stood there so I had to swerve but I didnt see where it went. The car that was following us called my cell phone, as thought I fell asleep. She didnt even see it.
At least it wasent a moose!
dood man, I'm sorry, just got around to checking new posts.
Glad your ok. Some aren't so lucky...I know 1st hand.
Post pics of the new car! :)

I've got a black one that's sitting in a lot 142 miles from me at "JAY MARKS MAZDA" in Houston.

If you absolutely want to, just see if your local dealership can trade inventory with this guy if you don't find one closer. If the black's been sitting that long, I don't think it's going anywhere for a while.

Yup Yup! Glad to hear you are okay and you really did the smart thing by getting a DD. Its not his fault you guys crashed. It was that damn ricer-ass deer. I bet his punk ass had Type-R shaved on his hide. I hope you end up with a nice car too. I totalled a brand new car (that blew) in Oct. and ended up with my MSP in Dec. Yay-Me!!!

I don't have any pics. I don't want to see the bad luck any more. I did rip off the front mazda badging for a little rememberance but that is it. The ins. company took the car and they are gonna sell it at an auction. I am trying to locate were it is taken to. I'kk keep people posted if they interested in parts or the car.

Deer are evil as all hell my friend. You did the right thing by not driving and this "accident" was not your friends fault either. The Deer is to blame plain and simple, and their agenda against the Mazdaspeed Protege is becoming all too clear. Rifles anyone?

Man f*** deer.(gun) Out of all the wrecked MSP's, how many have been wrecked because of deer? Seems like a lot to me.
