Hmm...thinking about putting my racing harts back on the car today. I'm off from work today...and checking the extended forecast it's going to stay above 40 degrees now..
Plus there's a fun run tomorrow, and the snow tires handle like shit compared to the Potenzas.
And if it snows again I could just use my mom's Corolla to go to work.
Any serious problems with running the Potenzas in low to mid 40 degree temps?

Just be sure to warm them up before you cut too many corners.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking...during my commute I usually take it easy to save on gas anyways.

Don't do it..were supposed to get more snow this weekend! Or so they say!

My snow tires look killer. ;) But I still swapped my snows off for the ES100's on the factory rims two days ago. Mmmm... The handling is SO much better!

i'm more worried about pot holes! up here they are as big as my car!!(evil)
Yep - potholes and getting stuck at home if it DOES snow. I like the looks of the 17s much better too, esp. since I'll have the 03.5's on my black mica come Spring (can't come soon enough!) but I don't have the time (or lower back) to change 'em out for the weekend so I'm runnin' the P5/Semperit 16" combo 'til April. Oh - and staring longingly at the RacingHarts...
No problem running summer rubber in cold weather, but they will run differently, can run hard and give a harsher ride along with not providing the same grip they do at 50+ degrees. The rubber is softer butdoes harden with lower temps, making the tire behave differently. I don't have experience driving the RE040's in cold, but other performance tires I've driven range from a minimal difference to a pretty noticable one.
Bear with it - spring isn't THAT far away!

:( I have to wait til March to get new treads for my Racing Harts, when I get my bonus (hopefully)...so it's black steel 15's for me til then. I was gonna get the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW-2's(http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=g-Force+T%2FA+KDW+2&vehicleSearch=false&partnum=145YR7GFTAKDW2&fromCompare1=yes), but now I'm gonna get the Nitto NeoGen's .....they run for $99 each on Discount Tire Direct, w/ free shipping(http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/findTireDetail.do?step=details&source=size&productType=TIRE&index=4&productCodeIndex=40217). I also found out the NTB w/ match any internet price, plus mount them at same cost....I've gotta investigate that more. (sorry about long links....I gotta learn how to shorten them up)

Potholes are the main reason I haven't put my racing harts back on. New Jersey's the swiss cheese of the east coast.
On my last car a pothole bent the inside of one of my rims and I didn't even know it until 2 weeks later when I got a blowout in the middle of nowhere. Winter rims were a must when I got this car.

That's why you gotta use the handling capabilities of the car to avoid all the potholes! It's a fun game!

Yeah, potholes are the problem. It'll be pothole season in Boston until late april. Basically when it stops getting below freezing at night. Until then, potholes everywhere, especially after rain or snow.
I'll probably put mine back on around tax day.

Yeah well pothole season is every day of the year here in NJ...they don't fix em ever.

We have some in summer, but they are way worse in winter. You get the real car eaters in winter that can be a foot deep and not only blow a tire and bend or even crack a rim, but also rip your front end to shreds- bent suspension parts and all. I've seen potholes here cause damage into the thousands of dollars on the front end of a car.
Sucky roads!
