Steering Wheel Question: everyone participate plz

i discovered something weird today:

when u turn the steering wheel to the right about 360, theres a leather lid on the side, what is that!?? theres like a round cap.... i was scared to remove it coz i thuoght it was air bag related...

any ideas would be appreciated

Ok, that's the bolt that holds the airbag module to the steering wheel. The cover just hides the head of the bolt.

just a plug that covers the hole to the screw that u unscrew to take the streering wheel off!

I think there is one one each side right? I think it is just the cover to a screw or screw access. If it's the same thing I'm thinking of, that's all it is. I've pulled it off before driving...you know, just tinkering and picking at stuff, I pulled it loose.

yeah its just a cover,,i had to jack one from a dealer car cause i lost one nothin too important..just makes it look nice

I'm sure...I checked it out in the Online Service Manual. It was in the section for how to remove the airbag module.

umm 360° is the same as having your wheel strait (looks wise from the inside)

I wish I was as catious as you guys. I saw the damn things and just took it off and felt around inside as soon as i noticed the damn thing. Damn, I woulda been screwed if it was the airbag switch or some shit, cause i was doing 80 on the freeway at the time.

Yeah, it'd be funny as hell for the guy next to me, until i randomly punched the steering wheel and slammed him into the divider and we both died in a horrible fire ball.
