arent you the best boyfriend ever
Thats my running title!
I setup the deal ($12000 out the door) gave her some cash up front that her mom matched and I am the main person on the loan so she could get a lower rate. We got 4.9%. Plus I have to take care of the first few months payments while she's doing internships.
Does anyone happen to klnow how well the stock LX tires do in snow?
I still have my nokian Hakka 2s with studs, but if she doens't need them It be nice to make some money back.

i really didnt have a prob at all...i was told i shoulda gotten snow tires, but, im glad i didnt spend moolah on them...i've never driven w/snow tires though, so i dont know how much worse mine are
there was a huge ass snowfall here though, and i was plowin through just fine...there was only one time i started fishtailed (well, there were a lot...but those times were on purpose, lol) , and that was cuz my back tire got caught in this nice fresh snow pile when i was braking pretty hard and i hit a curb, but no damage at all :D

the Potenza RE92's on those 15's are okay in the snow, but they REALLY blow in the rain.
I'd say let her use the Nokians just to be safe for NH winter weather.

i really cant remember having a prob...i dunno, i cant remember driving in any huge ass downpours lately...i dont wanna say they are ok, then have something happen to ur gf...
i mean, i have issues following the speed limit, even in the rain, and i dont recall anything (and i can prob list off every time i have lost control of my car, cuz i remember them all, cuz the few times i have, its been kinda scary) ... i mean, as she's cautious, and not someone who doesnt realize that ya gotta drive a bit diff in the rain/snow, i think she'll be aight

I recommend dumping the RE92's. They get worse with wear also, and in 3 days I'll have had my LX for one year so I've had all the seasons. Initially I thought they were fine but I was comparing to a 14 yr old dying Civic with new Pirelli's. But now having a full winter on these I can't wait to replace them in a month or two. They are what they are, factory all season's. The low rating on Tire Rack says it all. In any case I need better grip in the warm weather.

I second that! I have been driving on winters as well, my RE92's has 22k miles on them. I'm not sure whether I'm going to go back to them. I've seen tires like Continental ExtremeContact and Kuhmo Ecsta 712 that by all indications seem to be better than RE92's (especially in wet weather) for a similar price.
One thing I can compare for sure is that my winter tires stop so much better in wet than the RE92's. I remember a few months into having my car, it was raining heavily all day, and some moron decided to cut me off getting onto the highway. I braked to avoid collision, but I locked up the wheels way earlier than I expected myself to. Since I got my winters, I've been able to definitely brake harder than that without locking the wheels. Yeah, I know that they are winter tires, but I can imagine good hi-perf ones still being better than RE92's in wet weather. (my original wet traction post (http://www.protegeclub.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=29282), one month into owning the car)
She drove on the tires in a lot of snow the other day and she really hated the tires. I had put some good Yokos on here civic before so I guess the factory tires aren't up to the tasks I thought they were. Luckily for her I have a set of Nokian Hakka II's with studs :D. Those things are amazing in the snow. I was racing plows in our last storm in the P5 :D
someone got some on V-day for that gift
TWICE!!
She refuse a third when I suggested she call some friends over. :(
