I was thinking about having the mazdaspeed exhaust installed on my 03 protege es.
I was thinking about going with the mazdaspeed because i dont want the sound to be too loud or have the exhaust tip look like a coffee can. I believe that my warranty will still remain intact if i stick with mazda.
Any help appreciated on the subject.

Yea, the Mazdaspeed Sport Exhaust is a good choice (thumb) .....I've also had mine for about 2 months and I really like it, not too loud or ricey sounding......Oh yea, here is a couple pics of it on my car (sorry if they are blurry)

Thanks for the pics. Do you have one of the exhaust from the back - showing the size of the outlet.
I thought i seen a post where they had an audio clip for an exhaust - did you ever see it.
Thanks in advance.

This is the MazdaSpeed muffler I have on my car it looks like it sticks out a bit but not to much... I got it off someone from this board. The sound is not loud but u can hear it when u start up and give it some gas...
Whats the pipe size on the mazdaspeed exhaust?

the real mazdaspeed axle back available at dealers is much louder than the ones found on MSP's.
it sounds like youre running no muffler which is actually pretty good and looks damn sexy with a rear valence.

Hey 'jscott33' which muffler are you lookin for?? You say the Mazdaspeed Exhaust...but do you mean the one that 'Hollywood2009' has (which I think is the Racing Beat muffler (w/the oval tip), which is the one that actually comes on the MSP),......or the one like I have (the mazdaspeed sport exhaust (w/the round tip) ???

ok let me simplify again
stock msp exhuast = quiet, pretty much only for looks
mazdaspeed sport exhaust = looks and sound

I agree, with a rear skirt it looks much better (2thumbs) (which is why thats what i'm buying next).......without a skirt there is kind of an unattractive gap :( ......here are a couple more pictures from the rear..(you can also see the gap I'm talkin about)

Thanks for all the pictures, they helped me in my decision - what about an intake. I am thinking about injen, although the Injen CAI is pretty expensive - i seen it for $260. Is the CAI that much better then the shorty by Injen or AEM. Theres about a 120 dollar difference.

anyway you might also want to pick up a used one if you dont mind.

here is a pic of my intake/engine bay
you should do not cutting, the filter fits in the fender well, and the piping goes through the little hole on the drivers side.

With the filter being in the wheel well does it pick up excessive dirt or water?
Thanks for the pics
