Hey Im new here, but i while ago i posted a thread asking if the mazda allegro was the same as the mazda protege and i got some what of a mixed response. I've gone to mazda here in philadelphia and they cant answer me, i went to the philadelphia auto show and they couldn't answer me.

as i said before they look the same only difrence i see is that the allegro is a 1.6 and the protege is a 2.0.

Did the protege ever come 1.6 Dohc in the US and if so what years were their.

what i did to see if anyone here in this forum can help me figure this out is, i got the engine and chasis number of the allegro to see if they compare to any protege here in the usa.

Engine: ZM653415
Chasis: 8LEBJ10M24M000670

hope to hear from someone soon thanks.

That's what I was thinking of Insidious. Oh as KyRaceFan asked, why is this in the MSP section?

Yeah, the 1999-2000 Proteges, had a 1.6 DOHC (ZM-DE) Engine. It came in the DX and LX models.

Here is a link to picture of My Engine Bay, Yes, it's a 1.6 L 2000 Mazda Protege

http://tiger.towson.edu/~jmann2/Can/You/Handle/It/engine.JPG

And, no the intake, battery, heat shield did not come like that for comparisions sake. There was a huge air box where the intake went, and the head sheild was chrome.

Edit: And I don't want to hear how dirty or bad the engine bay is, this was just posted so we could all see a 1.6 L, that is if you haven't seen it already.
