I just thought the people here would be interested in knowing how much I got for my car. I needed to trade it because I lost my job last fall, and it was a strain to make the payments let alone get anything neat for it. It had about 6300 mi. on it when I took it in yesterday, and they gave me $16,300 for it. I'm now driving a 2000 DX. It's not nearly as fast (but I knew that) and I'll miss the power windows and locks a lot, but I'm going back to school in the summer and it'll be nice to have lower payments -- a LOT lower.

i think you will enjoy the better gas milage, insurance and reliability that car brings over the MSP you had.

im having regrets about ordering my turbo kit now, i might sell it as soon as i get it, and just go headers and catback.

That's a pretty good trade-in value you got. Most people I heard about were getting less.

Yeah but trade in is not the whole deal the dealer may up the trade 1,000 and sell the DX for a grand higher than the lowest they would go. If you don't mind let us know how you did on the price of the DX and if you had any dealer fees or other nonsense added in.

I'm wondering how they could give so much when you can buy a new one for the same amount or at least I did.

Well, I really wasn't expecting to get that much for my trade. I owed about $13.6k on it, and would've been happy to simply pay that off.

I checked KBB, Edmunds and NADA before I went to buy. I got retail prices of anywhere from $7990 to $6150 for the 2000 DX. In the end, I paid $7815 for the DX and got $16,300 for the trade. My end finance total was $5298.49. I opted to not get the warranty or the gap coverage, even though they tried pretty hard for those.

The DX is in good condition. It's got about 50k miles on it, a few scratches but nothing too bad. I'm happy that I was able to lower my payments from $289/mo to $131/mo, and my insurance will be about $60 less per month, too.

I will miss the MSP, but in the long run, this works out better.

The car salesman was an ass. He pulled out a report (some auction report...) to try to show me how they were paying too much for my trade, but on the top it specified another protege. He told me, "well, it says that it's a different model, but that's just how they list the Mazdaspeed." He may have been telling the truth, but why should I believe a paper that doesn't even specify that it's my car? I pretty much told him to shove it.

He also pretty much refused to give me the mechanical inspection report, trying to pass of another report that didn't even have specs like how much brake pad was left. He also refused to let me take the car to have it inspected, telling me that it was the owner's kids car. We did see the Carfax on it, and it comes up clean, and I took my car restorer friend to check it out. It runs great though and we all (my bf and car friend) agreed that we thought it'd be a great car.

good trade in value for the msp.

bad deal on the DX.

if the salesman tried to pull that crap on me i would raise hell and demand some satisfaction.

good deal in the end though, but too bad theres not near as much aftermarket for the 1.6 compared to msp/2.0's.

i really didn't get the impression he was looking to mod the car. you tend to not care about shit like that when you lose a job

subaruwrx, I am in Idaho, up north. I'm pretty happy with the overall deal.
