View Full Version : Judging interest for hardpipes

I'm a machinist by trade and was wondering how you guys would feel about some custom hardpipes.
Right now I'm making a set for myself. It uses .20 standard thickness, 2" aluminized pipe. The pipe will come with Baker Precision high-temp silicone flex sections so the stock intercooler pipes don't break under engine flex. It also will include a 2" to 2.5" reducer for attaching to the throttle body along with all clamps.
I will have the pipes either powder coated in Black or Silver. The CAI will be made of the same materials as the hardpipes and come with a cone filter.
These hardpipes will be made to order, using either an aftermarket BOV flange or the standard OEM BPV.
Most hardpipes sell for $400 and most CAI's sell for $200. Thats $600 for a set of hardpipes and a CAI. I'm planning on selling BOTH the hardpipes and the CAI for $475 SHIPPED. Or you can just order the Hardpipes for $300 and the CAI for $175.
Please just post if you would be interested or not, if they were available.
Thanks Guys,
Binary

100% sure I would buy just the hardpipes for $300. I already made myself a CAI, so I just need the remaining two sections of pipe. Would that $300 include a flange for a certain POV welded on, if not how much extra?

I'm interested, but I need to do a bit more research on any warranty issues, BOV vs. BPV, and "Turkey" increase. I know there is a ton of info on this stuff already so I'll just check the posts.

Sure, I'd have to check on the flange for your certain application, but I think I can do it.

I would be interested in a set of hard pipes for 300.00. Will you be trying the BPV/BOV setup like 505 did to kill the turkey? Would this kit fit alright with an injen intake?

If I'm going to be running the Forge dual piston valve will this work with the hard pipes that use the stock BPV, since the Forge is a direct replacement? If so I'll want to pick up a set of the $300 hardpipes when taxes roll around prob.

Thats one thing I am working on. It really isnt cost effective to make 2 different sets of hardpipes, one for people with the injen, and one for people without, but I'll see what I can do.

yeah man, definetly look into making it work with injen CAI
i will be one of the first ones to get it if it fits with injen.....
i would also like a dual setup if possible (flange for BOV and a nipple to rout our stock BPV)
THANKS BINARY!!!

Would it be possible to make them without the powder-coating? Aluminumized pipes shouldn't rust, even without the coating, right? I have about 250 to spend, so if they weren't powedercoated, would that do the trick?

I'm sure I can do that, these pipes will be made to order, application specific. This will be a custom job. Aluminized pipes can still rust, but it takes alot for them to do that.

Problem is, I don't have anyone around here with a Speed and the Injen CAI. I don't know where to route the pipes, so I don't know where my bends need to be. If someone can give me a clear picture (large perferably) of the route that the Injen runs, I'll see what I can do.

Yeah, I can make them out of SS, I just don't think the benefits of SS on hardpipes outweigh the cost.

id be in for that price.
That is a lot better then spending like 1000 for hardpipes or 2000 for the fmic kit.
Material is not a problem, I have a connection with a local PVF wholesaler.
The only question is shipping.

I'd be interested in the hard pipes if they worked with the Injen CAI.
