I called Nology yesterday asking about their PDA-dyno. Wanted a windows based dyno software. Unfortunately they don't have one. Then he started talking about Hot Wires. What do these do and does anyone have them installed? I am new to building a car and was wondering.

if they are just plug wires, they dont really do much.. some ppl say their car idles smoother.. thats about it.. they look cool though :).. however, since we have an engine cover, yeah...

Actually, the Hot Wires kit looks to be different:
http://www.mazda3online.com/product_info.php?cPath=27_68&products_id=140
It replaces the coils, as well, relocated to the location that the factory 626 FS-DE of older gens had them, then has four wires running off of that. =) So, presumably it's a bit "better" than just the plug wires, but who knows.

it will be better if you tell us the problems... is problem occuring with proteges? or other cars?

yeah, per my understanding, they act sort of like a capacitor to make sure that the correct amount of charge is being distributed so to burn up "all" of the pig-rich mixture that Proteges have. the obvious concern is about the design is that the charge has to travel ~1 foot farther but once things are started and the 'capacitor' gains a full charge then it shouldn't matter...

That picture is actually of the 626's coil setup, not of the Nology version; If you look, the Nology one uses different coils of sorts.

So could these actually prevent detonation when turning up the boost or make it happen a lot easier?

with the nology kit. you reuse the stock coils. the only thing you get from nology is the bracket for the coils and the wires. and a ground wire for the bracket to the valve cover. and flat black is right. thats the stock 626 and jdm protege set up.

Well I can't speak for the people on the yahoo site. But I've had the prototype
for about 5 months now. And works great. I haven't dyno'd the car yet but it
does give it some boost of power. And the guys at Nology are pretty good at
troubleshooting things. Just giving my opinion.
