View Full Version : I dyno'd my MP3 with out knock!

Well, today I went to a local shop and dyno'd the ol' MP3 turbo. I got 156 hp and 177 torque to the wheels. No knock over 5000 rpm, like what happened previously at FP. I attribute that in part to the 93.5 octane @ $1.59/gallon I've run for two tanks now.
Down side, I was at 14.1 A/F ratio on that run. A couple of runs and it was the same numbers. We tried adjusting the AFPR a little to help run a little richer. Powerdropped slightly as the A/F got richer. We pulled something like 151 hp at 13.5 A/F.
So, once I get home I'll post the scanned dyno of the top run, and probably most important as it had the worst A/F ratio.

sweet!
is that with the mp3 or p5 ecu.. I think i remember reading you only got knock with the mp3 ecu..
thank god i have 94 here... that is all i have ran since boosted. i pay around 1.90 for 94

Damn, I have paid that for 93 octane on occasion. 93 is as good as it gets here. I run 8 PSI, and my A/F ratio is around 11 and below above 5000 RPM at times. Fuel pressure = 98+ at 8 PSI. I need to get that tuned.

What trick?
disconect the air intake temp sensor...it will run a little bit more rich. In my case, I recalibrated my FMU from12:1 to 8:1, now it runs lean aroun 13:1 but with the AIT sensor unplugged, it will run close to 12:1

This is with the MP3 ECU in the car. No knock with 93.5 octane. I have never changed and never will change my ECU from the MP3 one.

I went to MAC Autosport down in Parker. It's not that far away from ym house.
It cost $55 for as many runs as we could get in one half hour with a little tuning involved. But I think they were giving me a little bit of a deal becuase I had them do some work for me on something else un-related.

Ok, so I'm confused about what's going on with the pictures, so I'll try to attach it I guess.
So, here is the dyno with the A/F along the bottom.
***EDIT***
Sorry, for the cuddy quality. Crappy scanner!

Those are some good numbers! I know how hard it was to tune w/ those RRFPR! I found myself all over the place...And costantly having to adjust it!

what psi were you running?
do you have an intercooler... if so what are the dimensions?

Good job dude. However, your AFR is waaay too lean for a boosted car, especially a MP3 with its advanced timing. Do you have the Pierburg Aux. Inline Fuel Pump yet? If not, get it and adjust the adjust the RRFPR so that a 12:1 AFR is achieved from 3K to redline. Once you do this, your power will increase and you'll be safer too, trust me.

I know I'm lean in that run. Before I left we got it down 13.5 A/F, but I had to go to class.
I can adjust it further when I get time. I'm not on boost that often.
