VBulletin Upgrade

As you can all see, we've upgraded to the latest vbulletin. We're always open to suggiestions, so let us know what you think of it.

Note about speed issues: If the site is slow, it is because of an unrelated problem, and not because of the new vbulletin. Don't jump to conclusions.

A few things presently are not working yet. These are:
- the manage files section of your user CP (will be up sat or sun)
- the donations list
- the "car" field under your avatar (done)
- the "AV" field under your avatar (done)
- the "sponsored by" in the forum list (done)
- the "donated" field under your avatar (done)
- other things I probably forgot

So pretty please only PM me about things I did not mention above.

Though, I don't like it how the frame of this new board limited the text. In another word, everything is squeeze in this middle veritical column. I like it the old version where it's full screen. Any way to adjust it?

Enry, I already posted this in the other thread, but can we get the "recent" or "active" threads page back on the right side of the main forum like it was before? I feel like I can never check up on reading all the threads I want because I have to go to each section to find them. I know theres already an individual page for it, but I really liked having it all in one place. It was more of an up to the minute forum rather than spending an hour just looking around to find out whats happened since I've last been online. Hope that all makes since.

yeah i like the old way far better. i started browsing this forum over others because of the look and ease of use. this is the best mazda forum out there so i won't run off. but i liked the old way much better.

before you guys start hounding the admins about what should be and what shouldnt be, wait until all is done.I am helping out with this , and it isnt easy. The reason the upgrade was done was because the older forums had a back dood to hackers, and viruses. This version of vb will also be faster in the long run. Give them a break, when we are done youll like the forum more.

Im working on that also for our forums. As soon as I find the template and redo the settings, Ill pass along the info to enrie. Also Derrick,Imight call you to give you some on the phone basics on the new layout since your an admin here, and in our forums as well.

I like it a lot better (vs. all crammed in). There are only two things that I would like to see revert (a little) back towards where they were:
1. Avatars on the left side of posts (it takes less scanning for my eyes :D )
2. The recent threads list on the "Mazda Forums" page

Don't forget, there's a "new posts" button at the top, that shows far more info than the smaller "latests threads" on the right. But the "latest threads" are there on the main page, that's the main difference I suppose.

Make sure your preferences are set to email you. Your profile may have slightly changed with the update, or your emails may be pooled into a single daily email. Check your user cp.

There is still some issue with logging in not taking. I literally logged in 10 times and it didn't actually take till I clicked on a thread. And I had checked "remember me" earlier in the day and it didn't :(

I miss the homepage. I don't like how I either have to view all of the individual forums, or the most recent ones, but never both!

Hey Enry the new updated forum format isn't bad. But I do have a few questions.

1) I tried to change some stuff on my signature, but it defaults to what it was before even when I press "save changes" button. EDIT: Nevermind I noticed the 500 character limit error when trying to change it.

2) Will we have our managed files folder back with our pics?

3) Will you be adding the "lastest threads" bar back on the right (like the old forum) on the main "Mazda Forums" page? I do see this on the home page but not on the main forum page.
All and all I know your busy on getting the bugs and quirks out of the new forum. I'm sure the other members are interested on answers to the questions I asked. Thank you.

I know that at the very bottom of each page, there is a "top" link, but it would be better, in my opinion, if you placed it above the "Quick Reply" box next to the "prev thread | next thread" links. I find that the top link really helps, but I rarely scroll past the quick reply box.

He He. Anyway, the only thing I would like to see is a counter that would show how many posts you have looked at.....just something else to take up server space I know I know. It would only track new posts that you've looked at. Just an idea.....
