Well, after test driving about 1.2 million Miata's we finally found the one that both my wife and I could agree on. (In fact we even both hate the wheels. So no worries they'll be going soon.) Other than that the wife's happy because it's an automatic (blah), and I'm happy because it came with an SRI with heat shield, ported manifold, and the Borla dual exhaust kit. Oh and we both definitely like the color.

Here's some pics. Sorry they aren't much, I was racing to beat the sun after we waxed it.

Thanks, yeah the wheels actually got the dealer to drop the price another $500 because we pointed out we would have to replace them. lol. As for the replacement it's a little up in the air. Budget will be a deciding factor, so we'll probably just go with the Motegi MR3s that I currently have on my Del Sol Si back home. Not sure though, I am thinking gunmetal rims might look good with the green. Any thoughts?

I think I'm gonna hold off on the springs until I get the wheel issue sorted out. The thing that sux is the lug pattern. 4x100. If not I would be all over your Racing Harts Chris.

(yippy) YAY miatas!!

Congrats Vodapas...Sounds like this miata is already becoming an obsession for your wife. :D hee!

You HAVE to check out this page for great looking/lightweight wheels:
http://www.good-win-racing.com/goodwinracing_005.htm

Some are nice and inexpensive too! Remember--lightweight=less unsprung weight=quicker starts. The auto could use all the help it can get. ;)

Keep us updated on the rims! :)

Yeah, I noticed the same thing when I was waxing it. The 3 spoke wheels combined with the 2nd gen headlights and hood bulge. Ah well, the baby Viper look will go away soon enough once I get some new wheels. I'll probably just go with my Motegi MR3s. Not the best rim for that body style, but they already have the BF Goodrich T/A KDW 2s that I love so much and with only like 2500 miles on them it would be a shame to sell them with the Del Sol.

Yup, even the exact same factory recomended offset. When Honda sets out to copy another manufacturer's car they do it to the last detail. lol. Well except for the rear wheel drive and real drop top.

I don't know why, but those wheels look tight as hell on that car.....looks like a HotWheel.

Didn't those rims come out in '94?

Either way, nice ride.

Thank you. Honestly, I must agree I have always hated the Anteras, but this is definitely the first car I have seen them on that didn't trigger a gag reflex when I saw them. Don't get me wrong, they will get replaced, but I can at least see why the former owner put them on it. (BTW, I took off the center caps and strangely enough it makes them even more tolerable.)

Um..the del sol is the called 2nd generation CRX, the first generation of CRX is around 88.
I dont see how honda copy the miata design, I really dont, is that some sort of joke or humor here?

be aware that ENkei makes TONS of oem rims for honda as well as ALOT of japanese vehicle, including toyota.
I wouldnt be suprise that they make maita's alloy too.

one more thing, honda put out alot of 4x4.5 or 114.3 alloy too.

here the list of rims that you could take from honda with the right pattern

first, second, third gen integra(no type r)
All civic(including Si)
delsol
crx

accord/prelude/itr wouldnt fit

I've got 5 Konig toxxins with brand new kuhmo 712's on them. They are 4x100, although two of the rims are slightly scratched. I'd like to get 600 for them, but if no one buys them they are going my roommates civic.

Well, first of all I love my Del Sol and I wasn't trying to rip on Hondas. I am well aware that the Del Sol was the CRX in Japan and was a direct replacement for the CRX. However, the point I was trying to make was that when Mazda released the Miata (Roadster) in 1989 it renovated a love of true sports cars that had lay dormant since the 60's. Immediately other manufacturers took note of Mazda's success and tried to carve off a piece of the market. Ford did it with their hideous Mercury Capri and when Honda revised their two seat model they styled it more as a roadster than a two-seat civic which it had been. I think it could be argued that without the Miata there would have been no Del Sol, BMW Z3/Z4, and more than likely no S2000. Much as the Mini Cooper is doing now the Miata proved the viability of a very specific type of car in the world market.

As for the lug pattern, yes that was a comment made with tongue planted firmly in cheek. There are very few lug patterns used on passenger cars and it's not surprising given the size and weight of the Honda Civic chassis based vehicles and the Miata that they use the same lug pattern. I'm just glad the offset is the same.
