sidpro5

that would be MID-ATLANTIC PROTEGE OWNERS CLUB. Hey, are any of the NEPOC peeps planning on attending the New Brunswick meet? If so, could I put NEPOC on the shirts I'm thinking about having done?

SpicyMchaggis
02-01-2004, 03:27 PM
ahh. gotcha. isn't that why there is pro-mazda north..and pro-mazda in general..the majority of them are mid-atlantic.

the new brunswick meet isnt gonna be an "official" nepoc event but a group of us will be coming down to go to it.

although it will suck if we lose our PA/NY/NJ members out of NEPOC im glad to see you guys are getting somethin together. And we can definitely look into joint meets :)

I suppose, but I think we were just looking at something small for now. What are the requirements for Pro-Mazda?

sidpro5
02-01-2004, 03:33 PM
slug, I don't think you'd have to worry about defectors as this will be geared more toward the lower north-east. New England is just a little too far for some of us (ME), so I came up with the idea of something closer to the PA/NJ quad-state area, and spicyzoomzoom just ran with it.........

SpicyMchaggis

Pro-mazda? PM lisakay or ghostP5 for info on pro-mazda..or go to their section on the forum.

Jersey, Spicy and I would appreciate your input on this as you seem to really have your finger on the pulse of the NJ/PA scene......

and just so the NEPOC crew doesn't get bent out of shape (I know how extended "family" can get! lol),we've changed the name.....(cheers)

02-02-2004, 01:16 AM
Yes, there's a lot we have to talk about. There is still a possibility of having a ******** chapter for the tri-state area. So we need to decide whether or not to pursue that opportunity or create our own club like the New England people did with NEPOC.

I'm kinda leaning toward doing something on a smaller scale, at least for the time being, just to see what kind of interest we can get. I don't want to go to P-M with like 7 people and ask to be covered under their umbrella. I think we should build a core group first, and see where it goes. Plus, don't they have alot of crazy rules? You know I don't like rules.......

jersey_emt
02-02-2004, 01:30 AM
Yes that makes sense...we still need to have some basic rules though..just nothing crazy.

sidpro5

none of that "You MUST attend 51 meets per calendar year, or be shot, sent to the Russian Front, and membership revoked" kinda stuff.

sidpro5
02-02-2004, 01:32 AM
how about;
1. No Freeloaders. At club picnics, we ask everyone attending to contribute in some way.

And they will all be black-tie!

Tri-chair LOL

I think we're all agreeing...I just sent a PM to Christy about how I don't think we should force people to enter their cars into shows because not everyone's Mazda is a show car...then I come here and see you said the same thing!

I think the only 'rule' we should have right now is if you are representing the club by having a decal on your car, to keep your car relatively clean and presentable. Again, not keeping it show-ready, just keeping it somewhat clean. Besides, everyone who is joining is going to be a car enthusiast who keeps their car pretty clean anyways.

Those rules are outdated, and will be updated soon. We dont force anyone to do anything, we are a family here. All that jazz has been brought up by people that dont know us. We dont need a group of people to surprise us and get in. We are looking for people that care for the community as we do. If you guys want to know more look at our site and read around, but dont go spreadding rumers. We support all of the smaller clubs, and we are more than happy to help them start up. But we dont appreciate the bad info on us. Please read up on us before you judge.

All of our cars are not show car either. You guys really need to talk to our guys, we are not dictators. We stick together.

Hey all -
Everything that Ghost said is true and accurate. ******** isn't a totalitarian society. Not every member has a show car... like me - I am into the track, so I will probably not ever modify my car externally. I fell in love with the idea of ******** at the first meet I went to. It was so organized, and everyone had so much fun. I understand small clubs wanting to stay small (and that's cool), but there is also something to be said about a larger club that is nationally recognized, can get parts discounts, and gets sponsorships. I see that you all have played a little on words regarding rules, etc. Whether the club you establish is big or small, rules are an intrecate part of organization. It is extremely important to keep the initial idea of the club in mind. You also have to be extremely careful letting in new members. Whereas, initially - you may just want to grow, you have to think about the big picture. If you have a member that misrepresents him/herself or your club, and is the only member of your club that someone else meets - the impression of the ENTIRE CLUB rests with the misrepresentation of just one person. You may think that rules/regulations are absurd, but you don't get as big as ******** has, and stay this organized without some type of control. Rules are an added bonus that your club's ideals will remain intact. So, in general - have fun with it... we certainly do. And, if I can be of any assistance to your young club, please pm me. Thanks, and good luck.
Amber

My car isn't a show car.. and i'm not that into the racing.. I was introduced to ******** and really appreciated the way that they help a "car dummy" like me keep up on it. Learning things from all our wonderful members that will help in anyway that they can. I'm learning how to mod my own car.. we are a family, and I love being a part of it.

Dude, chill. It was meant as a joke. Although when I checked it out for myself, some of the criteria was out of my reach. Not to knock your organization or anything. We just want to do something a little more localized for the time being, see what kind of a following we can build before taking another step. This is in no way meant to be a competition with yourself or NEPOC.

Just to let everyone know, I handed my idea over to the "shirt guy" today, so hopefully I'll have an idea about pricing soon. The shirts will be a black t with the flaming "M" on the left chest with "mtma" in Mazda text underneath it. On the back will be "4/17/04 First Annual Northeast/Mid-Atlantic Protege Meet-New Brunswick, New Jersey". For club shirts, I was thinking of doing a large "flaming M" on the back with Justin's club logo across the chest. Any input is welcome.

I think u should include the nepoc and ******** logos too if its a regional type meet.

but if its a mtma meet that other ppl just happen to be going to then i guess that wouldnt make much sense :)

sidpro5
02-07-2004, 02:15 AM
slug, I'll talk to Justin and get his thoughts since this was his brainchild. I'll also have to see if I can get pics of your respective logos to my brother-in-law (the "shirt guy") before he gets the screens done, and, I suppose, permission from the ******** North crew to use their logo. Good idea, though. And since you made the suggestion, I'd assume I have the OK to use the NEPOC logo......

We're going to talk about whether or not the April meet is a MTMA meet with open invites for the entire region, or if it will be a joint venture.
