2/21/04: Monthly NJ/PA area Fun Run

<font size=4><b>INFORMATION</b></font>
The 'Fun Run' mini-meets are a monthly gathering of local Mazda owners who want to have a fun ride around the twisty backroads of Bucks County, PA. The cruise is 41 miles long with plenty of twists, bends, hills, and curves <img src="ubb/smile.gif" border="0" alt=""> Also anybody who is heading over to Christy's (spicyzoomzoom) LI meet can caravan up from the fun run.

We'll be meeting up at the Park & Ride in Yardley, PA off of I-95 right on the NJ/PA border.

The cruise will start at 2:30, and usually takes about an hour. Directions will be given to anyone who needs them.

I've led the last few cruises, but someone else can lead if they want. I ask that whoever leads is familiar with the loop (i.e. has driven it at an earlier meet).

<b><font size=4>RULES</font></b>
1. Keep a safe distance from each other. If we are going too slow for you, then just deal with it for the time being. I'll give you a copy of the directions if you want to take the drive faster by yourself.

2. Strictly obey any 25 MPH speed limits. There are a couple of residential areas along the ride.

3. Use common sense at all times. No burnouts, 'attempts' at drifting, etc.

<b><font size=4>DIRECTIONS</font></b>
<b>From NJ/North:</b> Take I-95 into Pennsylvania. Take exit 51 (the first exit in PA) towards New Hope. The Park & Ride is on your right at the first light.

<b>From NJ Turnpike:</b> Take exit 7A to I-195 West. See directions from I-195.

<b>From I-195:</b>Take I-195 West to the end. Keep to the left, and 195 West will turn into Route 29 North. Continue on Route 29 North to I-95 South. Cross over the bridge, and take the first exit in PA (exit 51 towards New Hope).

<b>From PA/South:</b> Take I-95 North towards New Jersey. Take exit 51 (the last exit in PA). Keep left at the fork, and turn left onto Taylorsville Road. The Park & Ride is on your right at the first light.

<b>From Southern NJ</b>Take I-295 North to the end. I-295 will turn into I-95 South. See directions from NJ/North.

<b>Everywhere else:</b> Send me a PM with your location and I'll get you directions.</font>

If you can't make it, no big deal. This is mostly a local thing...nothing huge. But it is a lot of fun.

Hey Chris where in Michigan are you coming from?

If you can find yourself a way to I-80....

1. Take I-80 East towards Cleveland. Head through Ohio and across most of PA
2. Take exit 277 in PA for the PA Turnpike Northeast Extension (I-476) SOUTH towards Allentown.
3. Take the exit for the PA Turnpike (I-276) EAST towards NJ
4. Take exit 351 for US Rt. 1 NORTH
5. Take exit for I-95 NORTH
6. Take exit 51 towards New Hope
7. Turn left at the end of the ramp onto Taylorsville Rd.
8. The park & ride is on the right at the corner of Taylorsville Rd. and Woodside Rd.

You can just mapquest directions from your address to:

That other design is nice ... its best to all sit down and brainstorm. His logo would be kick ass on a shirt since you have alot more room to play with. However, when cutting it into vinyl, having small words tends to get trickey, and at times, hard to read.

If worse comes to worse, the fun run will be cancelled, but the LI meet will still be on. As of now both the Fun Run AND the LI meet are still happening...if the forecast stays the same (chance of showers) it will still happen! If the forecast gets worse (steady rain) the fun run will be cancelled for February.

But don't worry! It's a monthly thing anyways for this reason alone! Sometimes weather gets in the way, even if the February one is cancelled there will be another one in March!

Weather update: It looks like the scattered showers will stop around noon. I'm thinking about pushing the meet back an hour to allow some extra time for the roads to dry up. Would changing the meet & drive time to 3pm and 3:30pm, respectively, really mess with anybody's schedule? If so, let me know, I'll just keep the meet at the original time.

North or South shore?

You need to get to the NJ Turnpike....take it south to exit 7A. Get on I-195 West, keep towards the left, and it changes to Rt 29 North. Follow the signs for I-95 South towards PA..right over the bridge take the first exit towards New Hope. At the bottom of the ramp merge onto the road and make a right at the first light onto Woodside Rd...the parking lot is on the corner and the entrance is on your right.

Last time we waited for over a half hour for 2 people to show up (who said they were 100% going to come) but they didn't....if you're not here by 2:30 then too bad! It's not fair for everyone else to be stuck waiting for you!

Great turn-out today for the fun-run. Sorry I couldn't be a part of it. Also glad to see so many people showing interest in MTMA. Let's get it going and keep it growing. Well I was hoping to attend. But, I now work 7 days a week between 2 jobs. My Saturday and Sunday gig pays $27 an hour for 12 hours on Saturday and 12 hours on Sunday(8am-8pm). I simply can't find a reason not to work on the weekends. My weekly 9-6 job pays my bills and entertainment. This weekend job is pure cream. I'll have my protege paid off in 6 months (I owe like 13k), then I'm saving for a solid year until I hit 30-35k so I can just buy a car cash and not have a car payment. At least that's the plan.

Yeah, we were cool at first, but we got to a red light and it was crazy after that. We were lost from the group for at least a half hour before we finally stopped, called, and got back together. After that, it was SO much fun!

I don't know! I kept up in the twisties just fine... my baby was taking a beatin but kept tickin'! The only part I had trouble with was the straightways, other then that, my black beauty was FLYING through those curves

I had to follow Justin and Christy from the Oxford Valley Mall. For the most part I was keeping up, but then we got an open stretch of 95 (?) and it became just a bit harder. But I think they had pitty on me and let me keep up! lol

That could very well be. Also, Christy kept saying something about a 10hp gain from the MTMA decals....That's like 60hp for what, $60? Dude, a dollar per hp is outstanding!

I forgot about the HP increase from the decal!!! But it kinda cancels out though, since she had one on her car too... so theoretically she had 10 more hp's too...

Plus, she has a couple "zoom zoom" decals strategically placed. I think they act as air foils to re-route the air around her car to produce a turbulence effect on the rear of the car, thereby pushing forward on the back end. I think you're definitely onto something! And if you noticed, the bottom left of it kinda is torn off, which creates a "sleeper" look.. you don't think it's fast until she's passing you! You definitely are right my friend!

the run today was awesome. And coqui thanks soo much for the liveonspeed ebay CAI find. It was a lifesaver today. i was actually able to keep with the msps in the turns and the straightaways. My car really needed that extra air and i love the sucking noise on shutoff. and the car sounds like a monster now... at least more than before

akhilleus, I'm glad you like the CAI! And you're right, our P5's were keeping up pretty well in those twisties... we made the MSPers HAPPY! I was in my car like WOO HOOO going through those hills. Next thing to do is find some red couplers to replace the blue ones, and buy a K&N filter. Did you get a K&N or is that the one that came with it?

Said he got me doin 94 and also excessive lane changes.
Also left my registration home, forgot to put it back in the car after i got it back from the shop.
He was actually a nice guy. I have my Uncle's badge (nypd) ane he waived the no registration and excessive lane change ticket. Gave me a ticket for 90. Said unfortunately since it was high speed, he couldnt let them all go.
