How do you adjust the idle on our speeds? thanx

Idle is controlled by the ECU. If you adjust the idle speed manually the ECU will just compensate around it.

I cant say for certain but you should have an idle speed controller on or near your throttle body. It should be plugged up with a black plug you take it out and you can screw it up or down to let more or less air in the idle throttle. Well this is the way it was on previous cars ive owned but I dont even own a MSP yet, lol.

You really can't adjust it too much. The PCM controls idle via the IAC, ARPMDES, RPM, blah blah blah. Anyway, the pcm will try to keep idle around (no load) 650-750 rpm. If you try to adjust via the throttle plate screw, you may more then likely in the end just screw things up. One reason is, if you open the throttle plate via the screw, then that throws off the TPS voltage at idle. Then you would need to adjust the TPS for the proper voltage output. But then the MAF sees too much air coming in and tries to adjust that via the IAC..... Some of this info comes from my Mustang days, and I'm not sure how different our MSP's are in that area. But I don't think it's a night and day difference.

Once again, a good stand alone EMS or piggyback system would come in real handy for our cars. :)

I was under the impression that some people have successfully raised their idle. I believe there is a video of someone with a raised idle and it prevented the stalling from his open vent bov.

When my neutral safety switch wire got pinched, it idled around 2000, but you also get cel.

I love search, saved me from making a new post. I was sorta worried about idle because I am used to my previous cars idling around 900rpm not 500. Once or twice before it dipped lower than 500 and stalled.

the car idles at 750-800rpm, not 500.
The first dash on the tach is 500, not 250.

from what i've learned in the mechanic shop in 2 years is that high idle is not good for a car, you waste more gas this way and wear out the engine faster.....correct me if i'm wrong....

I stand corrected. I am not looking to raise mine. Just felt like complaining.
