Are you talking about ID3 tags?
i guess, i waqnt the head unit to display the track names as they are playing in the car...

he might just be talking about cd-text. If you click on each track you can edit the cd-text. There is also a checkbox in the burning properties dialogue.
Hrm.. there's 2 things.. ID3 or file name. If you want ID3, you have to configure the HU for ID3 otherwise it will use filename. Capish?
yeah i got u, so will the cd automatically have id3 tags tho?

No, ID3 tags are a part of the MP3 format. CD-text is something different.
If you go into the menu (hold the 7/8 button) and go to the 'display mode' menu, you can choose what you want to be displayed (filename, ID3 tag, track time, etc)

no i think he's talking about the naming feature on the headunit. you can type in individual names for each track manually and it'll remember them the next time you put the disc in.
would take years to do a mp3 CD. even a regular CD why bother...

I had one of the first Excelon head units in my old MX-6 and it would never remember the names I manually put in on the head unit.
I agree with you Damaga, the filename works perfectly and I do use Nero to burn to CD.
Raku, what program are you using for MP3 encoding?
its working now thanks, but i use lame for encoding, well razor lame.
