I did some searches and can't find a consensus on this, but what is a safe amount of time to allow my turbo to cool down? I know Mazda says 30 seconds but there seems to be differing opinions.
I am really broke right now and can't afford a turbo timer.
I have a 20 minute drive to work on the highway every day so what would be a safe amount of time to wait?
Sorry for the lame question but I am pretty clueless about most of this stuff.

30 seconds is definately long enough.

Just stay off boost about a block or 2 before you get to your destination. You have a water-cooled turbo, so 30-60 seconds should be adequate (depending on how hard you've been driving).

no matter how hard you have driven anything past 40 seconds is a waste of time. just my opionion though.

Dom---> If your turbo is designed to be water cooled, you should hook it up without delay. The housing on a water cooled turbo has a completely diferent setup and the internal diferences require the water. When I got mine, the turbo mechanic at the speed shop told me that there should be no time that water dosn't flow in the housing and a little less oil flows on the berring because of the water.
I have a seperate water cooler for my turbo Have a look on the domain link for more details. It requires less modifications to your car.
30 seconds, no more. Just get a Turbo Timer and set it for 30 seconds and forget about the problem.

My mom's got a turbo timer set for 40 seconds. I'd imagine that for the MSP, 30 seconds would be more than enough.
