I have a DGM Carbon Fiber Front Air Dam as of yet. I'm thinking about getting the VIS CF OEM hood.

if you leave it unpainted...yes it will. unless your car is black.

I've always been partial to white 5s with cf hoods. It helps that this is my old car.

Hahaha...I have the money but don't think I wish to spend it all on that. I enjoy going slow. :p

your subtle look won't be ruin unless you want your car to be a true sleeper, which means you gonna have a shock and awe amount of hp and tq.

jdm_mp5
01-21-2004, 02:43 AM
Well, I'm not really going for the "true sleeper." I just want my car to look nice without anything wild or extreme going on. I don't want my car to look like it's trying so hard. I'd consider the HP and TQ but my parents would not like that.

hmm how about getting a postert kit, that would be so freaking pimp

It doesn't matter, it's a CF hood! It will look awesome!

now that i think about it, it will match your cf lip.....

well i just got my c/f hood today!! VIS oem for $500 at a local shop here at Hawaii. i got got white pro5 too and it looks like pro5mans old car with the auto exe grill and gunmetal rims! it a sweet way to do black and white style (Panda) JDM look.

the only thing i notice with the VIS hood is on the driver side not being flush to good, sticks up a little. even my friend is like that. but in all its a good deal for the hood.

eibach prokit+ tokico hp struts are a good appearance mod and an awsome preformance mod

Every time I see a car with a CF hood it reminds me of someone who just picked up a hood at the junkyard and can't afford to get it painted. I think they look horrible IMO.

i think cf hoods look awesome, especially on white cars. How much do you have to spend? I'd get standard upgrades(like essential). Exhaust, intake, headers, suspension, rims, intake manifold, throttle body, bigger injectors, upgrade your ignition system, etc. Don't aks me where to get these things, I have no clue, just know that they are out there,

check essentialspeed.com for the intake manifold and throttle body.

A cf hood on the right car looks sweet as hell. A cf hood on a ford festiva= dork. A cf hood on a black skyline=sweetness from the gods. It all has to do with the car its going on. I have a extreem gt vis cf hood on my black civic but will probably not put one on our yellow mp5. I'm not too keen on the oem hood look for a cf hood unless the car is black. It looks like you can't afford to paint your hood. The vented hoods are good for performance by decreasing the engine temp and creating drag to push the car down as it moves.

Hmmm...so many replies.

dominoy2k1, I'm not too big of a fan of the postert kit. I actually like the mintblue front now also, but I already have a front which would go to waste.

Yeah, I know its a carbon fiber hood, it is awesome. But like there are lot of things that look awesome but I wouldn't necessarily want to put on my car.

Hey Evade, could you post a picture of your car with the hood?

Roywhitep5, yeah I really would like to lower my car, but having the parents here, and since they bought my car, they specifically asked me not to lower my car at all. (My brother did it to his car and they did not like that at all.)

Dlovtsur, I know what you mean. Sometimes I feel that way too. I see lots of people trying to pull fake carbon fiber looks.

mazdaspeedpower, I would go down the performance upgrade lane, but if I do all that then my dad is going to think I'm doing it just to race or some bs like that. (I have very difficult parents with wild imaginations.) I was actually close to getting some rims but...I feel that if I get rims I need to lower my car as well. Since no lowering can be done then rims are unnecessary.

loccusst, I don't understand why you would paint your cf hood?

loccusst
01-22-2004, 11:30 PM
I was talking about if you have a oem looking cf hood on any other color of car it looks like when people are replacing parts on their car and can't afford to paint the part. The only way I would paint a cf hood is for a sleeper look or if you were doing some wild show car design. Other than that I like the look of cf since it is natural looking.

hey JDM if you've got the DGM grill don't get a VIS hood. the weave will not match and will look shitty. get the DGM hood or get rid of the grill.

jdm_mp5
01-23-2004, 11:57 PM
Hey CitizenPro, a good price will help raise my interest and maybe close the deal :D.

jsgolfer, I don't have the grill. I actually like the how the grill looks with the mazda emblem.

I agree. $500 for a mod that makes your car look worse and does essentially nothing. I'd look at suspension, wheels, or anything that actually makes the car better.

CF look good on most colors. I just don't like the look or me. I'm painting mine white in the spring.

jdm_mp5
01-24-2004, 08:02 PM
Oh you got one Brian? Hmm yeah now that I think about it, I don't want it anymore. Probably look into some performance options. Really want to do the suspension BUT the parents said specifically that I cannot drop my car whatsoever... unless I can come up with a really good convincing argument...any ideas?

Don't get the cf hood. It definitely will ruin the subtle look.

jdm_mp5
01-24-2004, 09:53 PM
Yup. I decided not to get it. Right now trying to find a new Injen CAI for relatively cheap. Anyone know of a good deal?

I went to their website and they sell it for about 260 dollars. I found it on another website for 204 dollars. Hoping to maybe get it for a little cheaper.

What the hell is that all about. I don't have one yet, I'm in Bosnia and I'm thinking that in the spring I will get an extractor hood for the heat. Because I don't really like the look of a black hood on a white car I was thinking about painting it.

Please tell me you were joking or explain what I have done to you in my past life.

Ditto...
Although I understand the reason for them, I just think they look funky unless the car is black. thats just my $.02

Brian, I was just wondering if you had the hood or not. Since you had a white P5 then I wanted to see how it looked on your car. Wasn't intended to be rude or anything.

loccusst
01-25-2004, 09:56 PM
Is the extractor hood like the vis extreem gt cf hood? If so you will notice a differance in the engine temp, it will drop. It does wonders for cooling off the motor.

i think that the hood will bring the front end together nicely especially if you have the lip. i honestly don't see why you would have a problem w/ the hood when you already have the lip. imho i think it would look very pimp.

Ok, But if you read your post it says that now that you know I have one you don't want one. You can see how that can be read?

Later...Brian

Yeah, that's my mistake. I just read it again. Sorry dude. Should have made that a separate paragraph.

(like so)

I decided that I'm not going to get the hood. But thanks everyone for the input.

back when CF first became big everyone used to paint it cuz they thought it looked ugly.

but it was that yellow honda spoon hatch w/ black rims and unpainted CF hood that started a craze.

it's up to you wheter or not to paint it i think it looks fine.

awww man! Bastards! Well, I guess unless I can't find a better deal I'll get it from that site I found. Better then $260! That's for sure.
