i know this has been brought up. But i found this website and was wondering what everbody thinks.

http://www.cacustomcoatings.com/

for 29.94 you get 1 can of paint (orange, satin black, gloss black, red, blue, yellow, silver), VHT brake cleaner, metal brushes to clean rust and dirt off, rust reformer/inhibitor. and then you can get a second can for 7 bucks. i emailed them and they said one can will do the car. but if you want to do four coats and have the finish last longer you will need a second coat. he also said the can has a shelf the can and two years later go back for any needed touch ups. just wanted to get what you guys thought. i know there is paint out there but i last i saw any it was 50 bucks just for the paint. thanx guys (or gals)

my thoughts....since if you take your time you can actually use high temp engine paint and do a fine job...and a can will easily do your car...and at a cost of only $3 to $4.....well....you could do it many times over that way.......for the same money.....so why spend the bucks.....the only reason I can see to go the extra bucks...is if you can not find the color you want in the high temp engine paint.

Is it a spray or brush on? In my opinion brushing it on is _way_ easier. You don't even need to mask anything unless you completely suck with a brush.

From a cynical point of view it sounds like an expensive way to buy a can of brake cleaner and a can of engine paint. It mostly depends on the paint.

That said - it's worth mentioning that I spent $27 on the G2 paint kit, which is also an expensive way to buy brake cleaner and paint - except that I don't know where else I'd buy the kind of 2-part high-temp paint that it includes.

I painted my calipers (2 so far...) and ran into an interesting and slightly annoying problem. The paint I bought was from Canadian Tire and was Ford Red high temp engine paint. I sprayed about 1/4 the contents of the can into a jar, then used a brush to apply it to my calipers. The result was rather unexpected, after three coats of paint my calipers are a very lovely orange color. I tested the paint directly from the can and it was red, not the orange color I ended up with. I don't know if this is a unique problem that I have had, but this is a warning to anyone planning to do what I did, the color from the can may be a LOT different if you apply it with a brush as opposed to spraying it.

I'm not sure what I should do at this point. Repaint over the existing paint with a different color in oder to achive the red I wanted...try and remove the paint that is already there and repaint...or learn to love the orange.

I'm leaning towards the orange color. It looks pretty good.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

The car is Silver. The orange doesn't look like ass or anythinng. It is just a surprise to get orange when you expect red ;) I should have paid more attention when I was doing it, I just assumed that as it dried it would get more red (Since I did a test spray before). And the color has gotten darker after I drove the car and got the breaks hot, just not enough.

I'm sure the brake dust will help out a little ;)
