Why all the Miata hate?

So my gf's cousin was over at her family's house (It's very odd being white and dating a cuban girl.. They spend time with each other?!) and he goes on and on about getting a new Honda. I said for that money ($5,000) you could get a turboed '93 Miata and have a pretty sweet ride. He laughed at me and said Miatas are gay and slow.


I was like, "Okay, have fun with your FF setup on an economy car." :rolleyes:

Yah, and let us not forget what happens when you throw driver ability factor in there. There was a Civic Si in San An who tried his damnest all night at the track and still ran HIGH 16s. And the regular Civic guys? high 16s to 17s.

I have determined NOT to take anything seriously from such rice boys. I just calmly tell them to bring it. And when they lose it's always one of two things: they give props and are enlightened to the miata's abilities or they get pissed off by getting beat by a girl :mad: in her girl car :mad: and leave. Either way, I'm happy. :)

It all comes down to respect. I give it 1st, then see if they are mature enough to give respect back. If so, great. if not, I don't wanna hang out with them anyway.

I have no qualms about front wheel drive imports. I always welcome them as what they truely are: fellow car enthusiasts. Damn what they have, because I have seen a few rice boys grown up, get good jobs and get RX-7s or Supras. They remember who was their friend. :)

I dunno, most of my gay friends, myself included, drive Mazda's of various types; Two own RX-7's, four own Miata's, I own a Protege5 and the RX-7, another owns an MX-3, another an MX-6, and I _SWEAR_, all the rest own Subaru WRX's... I mean, for goodness sake, Subaru is the sponsor of the Rainbow Visa card, and gives you savings if you apply for the car as either a married couple or a domestic partnership! I would assume Subaru would be number one, but hey; Can't argue with statistics, right? ;)

Hey, how well does that engine bolt up into miatas? It bolts 100% directly into a 1st gen mx6/probe with the GT tranny, but requires custom mounts to fit into a 2nd gen mx6/probe.

Ya, I saw that miata. Crazy as hell! You see Ric's racingmazda miata? 400hp on stock internals :eek: However no clue how long that'll hold. The FE3's rods handle up to 500-550hp proven! crazy!

Yup. :) Here is the VERY first dyno on a stock slipping clutch running a bit lean. Since then I added ~70hp then blew the motor :cool: Round 2 will be sooo better

I had a '99 for a brief period, and I got so much shit for it. The only thing I didn't like was not having cruise control (never added it as I didn't have it long enough) - the way my leg and ankle bent (and I'm only about 5'10) was consistently uncomfortable on long/highway drives. But around town it was a blast, and usually after someone rode in it did they realize the potential...oh well, at least I can say been there....
