Rear Bushings Replacement Q

Took my MSP in to have the rear bushings replaced and they gave me the 156D part.

Didn't realize until I got back to work & had a chance to look at the paperwork.

I know the part's going to fail... but does anyone have a timeline for this? Will it end up being worse than it was before? The dealership I took it to is being difficult about redoing the work & its going to be awhile before I have time to get it out to somewhere else....

I contacted my dealer and asked them what they thought of your situation. They said that the dealer should have never installed that part on your car as they fail within a week in most cases. It won't be worse, just the same ol' clunk. You should take it back and have them order the 156E parts. ;)

same clunk, two weeks tops for me. Depending on your roads, and weather ( wet or dry ) you might get less or more.

Yep it should be 156E. I had the bushing for 3 months now. No problems.

I've had mine in for a week I will keep everyon posted on how they are holding up.

The first time I had them replaced, it clunked within 1 day. Wet weather made them clunk worse than they did before.

The new E bushings haven't clunked at all. Also, the car has a little more oversteer but, seems smoother around corners than it ever has.

I went in two months ago and they replaced the bushings with the D. I TOLD them that the new E bushings were out. So they said they would order me the new bushings. Today, they replaced the sway bar and bushings. I looked at the work order, they put the fucking D bushings on with the new sway bar. I told them again E!!! E! E ! E! E! They just dont get it. So now the clunk will return and I'll go back and they'll probably give me a hassle. Dumb asses.

I am getting the clunking sound in my MSP. I took my car to the dealership and they replaced the right rear strut. It is still clunking. So, I made an appointment and I'm taking the car back to the dealership in the morning.

I'm going to ask them if they are going to use the "E" bushings. Not the "D"s

Called again about what's going on this morning (early morning ambush - hoping to catch them unawares and prevent effective argument). Waiting to hear back from them but at least I got the guy I talked to 'look into it' this time instead of just blowing me off.

If I hear back they won't replace them again or if I don't hear back by this afternoon I'll have to start calling around to see who has the parts & is willing to give me the right bushings.... anyone know of a service dept in the Houston(TX) area that's been good about this?

I just got the 156E bushings put on my MSP. So far no more clunk. I will keep everyone posted as to how they hold up.

Just call mazdausa and say that they won't return your call so you can get the new bushing. I can pretty much guarantee that within 10 minutes they will call you back and get what you want.

Update: Called again and ended up talking to the head of the service dept. He appologized and agreed they'd put the wrong parts in and told me to bring it back today to have them swapped.

Swung the car by at lunch and they did a quick change of the bushings (guess it goes to show that what you get is directly related to how loudly you complain :D ). All seems well now.

I'm a bit surprised I can feel a difference since the D bushings hadn't had time to really wear out yet... but the rear end & overall ride does feel noticably smoother with the Es. Didn't have enough of a drive back to work to really feel out the changes, but so far so good.
