Yeah, the last page of this thread http://msprotege.com/vbb230/showthread.php?s=&threadid=46599 . But if you got time I got a lot of pics up in there of the whole process. Sounds exactly like the Greddy and like all the cars in the game Need for speed Underground. I guess the type S is the most popular BOV since everybody in the media use that sound.

LAter.

holy crap doode...i just played that on my comp. i wasn't expecting such a bassy response from revving the engine and the BOV going off

I put the mic too close to the bov, that thing really blow off. Feels like a hurricane has passed when it goes off :)

oh yeah, gotta congratulate you on your crazy custom install of your FMIC. that was one helluva effort. hope your MAF doesn't get f'd while it's setup like that. i thought i was having a hard time trying to get my MBC to get setup...guess i knoe i'll have to get some help when i get my FMIC

i gotta ask...how did you get your BOV to blow off when you revved your engine while the mic was next to the BOV ? i can barely get the BPV to go off if i rev it to around 6K

Get an intake of some sort...the stock airbox muffles the BPV.

i thought our cars dont go into boost by just revving the motor? how did the bov go off then?

sounds pretty damn good.
A whole lot like the greddy type S. :)

And the nice thing about this BOV is it only cost me $75!! There's always going to be some pressure in the system even at vacuum. By the sound of things my car build a lot of pressure in vac :)

Thanks guys... you can't imagin how relieved I am now that the FMIC is on and functioning.

def the 1st gen dsm bov is a nice upgrade ..i think they can take a good amount of boost also....unless u want flashly brand names the 1g dsm bov is a nice bov to grab up..if u compare the type s and 1g bov..they are identical in outer appearance...wouldnt be suprises to see the same inside.

how did u get your car to build boost during idle. thats what it sounds like to me. my car will not do it no matter what i try.

That's sweet. I have a 1st Gen DSM BOV just laying around, I had it on my old MX-6, I need to find a way to get in on my MSP!

Like he said, you will always be able to build up pressure, maybe not boost, but there is pressure there. If you have any BPV vented to the atmosphere on any turbo car you will be able to get it to "blow off" by revving in neutral.

**Maybe not if you have a big ass turbo:D **

mine blows off at idle, gotta take it to redline though. I bet it sounds better :D haha jk. It sounds great man.

It's a piston on the inside.

I'm sure it'll get old really quick...the thing goes off on every lift of the accelerator, not loud but audiable.

Great job Custom! Congratulations on finishing all the work. Hopefully your car is running better than ever.

That's what I thought when I first put mine on my MX-6, but it never did get old:D

Good Job custom MSP. I'm able to do the same thing. The mazda guys here from Vegas that were at the meet in November were able to hear it. I had the car in neutral and just revved and each time and I let off the gas the Greddy Type S just went off. Super loud.

For all of you that want a sound like this you must place the MAF on the throttle body. There are a few other people on this board that are doing this with no problem. No recirc, no turkey, no stalling, no factory BPV. It's the way too go. Aint that right Custom. HaHa

They can take about 18-20 psi stock and 20 + if you "crush" them. I was running 27-28 on a crushed 1G bov, I'm sure it leaked a bit up there, but there is something about a stock appearing car running 11's that I liked more than I disliked having a slight BOV leak :).

Kind of a newbie to the mechanical aspect of tuning (yes there is also a theoretical aspect) so can i get a list of what i would need to get in order to install the 1g DSM BOV on my MSP?

Thanks to anyone who can help me with this!

Peace!

Hey, from what I am reading, I gather you are running blow through now? How has it been working so far? It seems to do better on most FI cars, however I was concerned with MAF longevity.

Also- what did you do, make a custom flange to bolt the IC pipe to it? Any boost leaks?

XoducPhD,

Basically if you want to do it right, you'll want to replace the plastic pipes with some hard pipes that go to the intercooler and the throttle body and mount the BOV on the intercooler to the turbo pipe and put the maf on the throttle body to intercooler pipe. Run a dedicated vacuum line to the BOV. This way, you'll gain some HP as well as a beautiful sound. Should cost you about $200 all together.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Joe,

I don't understand your question...

The blow through has been flawless so far, and the car is a lot smoother than it was before the FMIC. I don't know if it's due to the FMIC of the blow through setup. Probably both. Can you comment if the FCD will work with a blow through setup?

Thanks.

Ignore the question about the flange- I had a brain fart :).. It is the DSM MAF that bolts into air cleaner assembly- I forgot that the MSP had a lip on each end and you could just couple it in.

As for the FCD, I don't see why it wouldn't work the same- the MAF still reads the same thing.

My car sounds like some sort of a musical instrument between the bov going off at different frequences and the turbo spooling at different boost levels plus the bassy exhaust, especially when the wastegate opens. I'm loving it!! :D

Peace
