yesterday as i was leaving life plaza after the meet and got on the highway, i downshifted to 4th to pass up a slow truck and tried to shift into 5th. normally, this would be simple, just push w/ some force to the side. i pushed it, but it wouldn't go in. a few seconds later, i noticed that there was some grinding, so it should be able to go in. i tried to force it to no avail. then i realized, what if i'm just pushing it too far ? i let it go a lil' softer and voila ! it went in. it used to never do that and just decided to that day. then this morning as i was going to school, i felt first gear start to crunch a lil' bit and i got even more worried from last night. when i dropped my sister off at her school, i tried rowing 1st and 2nd a lil' bit. when i let off the clutch, a wheezing noise was emitted from the tranny box everytime i pumped the clutch. later went away when i put the car into first gear. but now everytime i try to shift into first, there's always a lil' extra push needed to put the shifter into first gear. ehh....WHAT'S THE DEAL !?!??! ?!

i have the same problem and it has been there for a while. I think it probably could be cured with some synthetic tranny oil. I have also noticed that if I leave my car parked in gear that the shifter is smoother and not as notchy.

at what miles did you start having the problem ? by notchy do you mean as you shift into 1st gear, it doesn't feel like you're trying crunch something into gear ?

I don't have grinding but at times it's hard to get in first gear. I have to try multiple times. The gb is so crunchy that I hate to even shift. Slight problems with fifth for me but nothing major. Reverse I have to do a flying karate kick from the back seat to get it out of gear.

When I can I will be changing my tranny fluid and taking a look at kartboy. I have 4k miles.

that was funny...hahaha HIIII YAAAAAAAAAAHH !!!!

anyway...hopefully getting that synthetic fluid for tranny's like the GM synchromesh oil or something will remedy it...it feels like the synchros or the forks r really f'd 'cause the shifter doesn't wanna go in as easily as it used to

I have just recently had a little problem with my tranny. When I am shifting above 5700 it always grinds going from 1st to 2nd unless I wait about a comelete seccond after hitting the clutch, to slide it into 2nd. It has never done this in the first 7000 miles no matter how quick i shift it. I have been really easy on it since it started so I dont really F up the syncros. Is getting the synthetic fluid really a cure, or should I just take it to the dealer? is there any aftermarket options to make this transmission hold up better? I have driven mustangs my whole life and I shifted the hell out of them compared to my MSP and they never had a single problem. Info from anyone will help?

mine is similar.. but for the most part it is smooth as butter.. 45k KB ss and bushing as well as redline MT-90, act clutch and fidanza flywheel.

Definitly get some redline mt-90.. this stuff helped me a ton, my car use to radomly not wanna go into 4th, havent had the problem since. I changed mine twice already. It seems to work the best for the first 10k than the crunchyness came back so i change it again.. 30$ well spent.

Randomly it is a little notchy but usually only when cold.
