Just wanted to say hi I just picked up a Laser Blue MSP on Friday. I traded a 2003 Subaru WRX for it and am loving every minute of it.

WELCOME TO THE SITE!! Enjoy your stay.
Laser Blue is a hot color. What made you trade the WRX for the MSP?

None around you they had 2 outta 3 dealerships around here! The WRX was a really good car but I wasn't driving it because of my long commute and it wasn't too comfortable for the long drives plus gas mileage wasn't that great. With the rebates and everything I was able to get out of the WRX and pay 150 less per month. Plus I had been trying to sell the WRX for like 5 months.

Why would you down grade from a WRX??? Could make the payments?
*ahem* excuse me, going to an MSP from a WRX is not a downgrade. they're not the same performance wise, but that doesn't mean overall customer satisfaction isn't very competitive between these two cars.
btw, welcome to the forums ! nice color ! i was thinking of that one or my titanium...i went w/ the titanium because i didn't want dickheads leaving their personal mark on my car.

Could more than make the payments. The whole story goes like this I got a Job that is 60 mile commute one way 120 round trip. When I bought the WRX I had never intended to use it like this a pile on all the miles. I would only get low 20s mpg and something about the seats made my lower back hurt (I am only 25 so I am not old :p ) Anyway, I decided to buy a 95 Nissan pickup w/ only 62k on it for 6000 cash and drive it as a commuter but that hasn't worked out either something is wrong with and with nothing but highway miles I only could get 17 mpg (4 cylc and was suppose to do 24) after about 1000 between techs throwing parts at it a diagnostics still the same runs great but crappy mpg still. So I am thinking and still paying insurance and notes on the WRX but only driving it 500 miles in the last 5 months and everybody that is about to buy it never can come up with the funds so at last I am see away to reduce the fleet down to 2 cars once again and with the great deals on the MSP. One of the things that drew me to the car is that it is already together w/ and nice sound system, wheels and a turbo still plus great handling. Anyway that is it hope I didn't bore you with the details I kept my STi key though. :( I will miss it but I think it is for the best. Here is a pic.

very cool. i've been considering a wrx instead of a msp, but a) i dont' know shit about the ej-20 motor b) the MSP is limited c) i love my mazdas :)
stick w/ the MSP...or go w/ the WRX and join NASIOC and learn a lot about the ej20

Hey... welcome to the group!
Ok, stupid question. I thought that the WRX was like a direct competitor to the MSP, performance wise. Isn't it the WRX Sti that is untouchable? Maybe I wasn't really informed. This is an old article but thought it was pretty neat on where our car fits in. http://www.popularmechanics.com/automotive/new_cars_trucks/2003/8/mighty_mites/print.phtml

Welcome aboard and I love the color!!! :D The WRX was also one of my dream cars. Just can't fit it in the budget for the STI!

Yep you hit the nail on the head UK wheels, STi Projectors, and grill. WRX is faster but the MSP doesn't feel slow to me at all but I am still breaking her in I will post some pics tonite when I get home. I mostly posted on clubwrx.net rarely on nasioc.com and I always use the same name TonyMS.

Msp is a great but thats looking for a good drivetrain.
Tranny and engine refinment is way below the Ej20t. The tranny isn't smooth, engine has alot of holes in the fuel map and the engine mounts are weak and the engine dances all around shaking the car.

I tell you what owning all the different cars I have there problems or complaints always seem to mirror themselves. Search transmission on any wrx forum and you will find numerous threads about how people hate that five speed and it is too notchy or they cant downshift to 1st unless they are stopped. I never had any of those problems. About the engine i don't think one is any more or less refined over the other. Both are great cars and fall into the best bang for the buck category. I will always love my little silver WRX.

I ditched the subaru world to get my MSP blue aswell. you guys may not like the tranny but in my subaru you couldn't shift to first until you were almost stopped, its an old designe that they have had for 20 years and they just add gears to it but now the all new 6 speed should be better. i love the mazda tranny except it doesn't seem to want to drive the rear wheels. I was member number 10 on nasioc, just digging the nimbleness of the MSP the new wrx chassis feels a bit too portly for my tastes. for the money the msp is a freaking steal.

Lets just look at the facts here.... if you had an STI version of the WRX, your lights would look like this....

or like this

But your lights look more like the 2002 -
